Tome of Horrors overlaps with new Fiend Folio

You know, I thought WotC wasn't going to produce stats for the monsters that appeared in ToH. From what I recall hearing about when word of ToH was about to appear, the only overlap of consequence was going to be Orcus (by name... although Juiblex appears as the Lord of Many Forms or something like that).

While I plan on by FF, I think it's ashamed that this has happened. There are so many people out there who will use the so-called "official" material just because it's "official." This is not to say that WotC doesn't put out quality stuff; generally speaking I trust WotC a great deal more than most other companies where balance and mechanics are concerned, but I don't think such is the case in this situation.

An agreement was reached, wasn't it?

Can't someone who has the info just post the overlaps ?

From various hints and article, I already know about these:

Blood Hawk
Dark Creeper
Dark Stalker
Demodand/Gehreleth, Shaggy/Shator
Demodand/Gehreleth, Slime/Kelubar
Demodand/Gehreleth, Tarry/Farastu
Juju Zombie
Skulk
Yellow Musk Creeper

But if there are 15 overlaps with ToH, that still leaves 6 of them.

By the way, to answer a question in a poll thread a couple days ago, are they using 1e or 2e naming convention for our Carcerian fiends ? Or both ?

Disappointing? Yes.

Surprising? Eh, not really.

As was mentioned on the necro forums, it's probably a function of "right hand not knowing - or caring - what left hand is doing."

Further (and this is just my perception as an outsider), it seems that WotC isn't even looking at other companies' stuff - they seem a bit "elitist" and don't seem to care that other companies are putting out stuff that they (WotC) do later. Sometimes much later. And in many cases, WotC does it worse. *sigh* Sad to see that WotC, the founders of the Open Gaming movement, seem to be ignoring the potential benefits to them of said movement when such benefits could be had with a little more paying of attention to what the rest of the d20 world is up to.

Would it kill WotC to admit that other people are producing quality material by picking up and using other peoples' OGC?

Having seen the FF at GAMA, unless my memory is quite bad, they were in the "D" section - which would make them "demodands."

Hi all! :)

Does anyone know if the Fiend Folio contains any new Demon Lords or Dukes of Hell (etc.)?

I don't need to know specifics (if people are worried about NDAs) just a yes or no would suffice. I'll have the book in about two weeks anyway...

Missed the back of MM2? The one where it specifically says other people are producing quality material and even *gasp* uses other peoples' OGC?

One monster, not even alphabetized with the rest of the book. Lip service.
