Top 50 Sci-Fi Shows per Boston Globe

http://www.boston.com/ae/tv/gallery/topscifishows/

I found this list a little...odd. They didn't really talk about the criteria they used. You have a list that has Space: 1999, but doesn't even mention Deep Space 9. The Man from U.N.C.L.E. gets a nod, but not Alias. You get both the B&W Superman and Lois and Clark, but not Smallville. Some of the shows lasted less than a season, but they were considered "superior" to Roswell. The Greatest American Hero was evidently considered superior to Mork and Mindy, which isn't mentioned.

Personally, I wouldn't have put Sliders or MST3K in the top 10. Not trying to start any flame wars, but I wouldn't have put TOS Star Trek as #1 (although if the unspecified criteria turns out to weight heavily by influence, I wouldn't argue).

A lot of the shows on that list I wouldn't even consider Sci-Fi. For example, Futurama, while in a futuristic setting, is an animated sit-com, not a sci-fi drama. For sci-fi comedy, why isn't Red Dwarf on the list? And why is Voyager on that list, but not DS9? I can't take it seriously when it says Voyager started off crappy and then got good by the end.

All in all, it's like most of those Top X lists... incredibly subjective to the person who made them.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Someone wasn't paying attention during Sci classes at high school.

And any 'best ever' list that has room for the original Battlestar Galactica is too long.
