TORG d20 (and any other 'lost systems' you'd like to see)

I was having a discussion with a buddy of mine who I used to game with back in the day when we had a lot more time for such pursuits, and he reminded me of the game Torg put out by, I believe West End Games in the early 1990's.

We only tried it a couple of times due to some mechanical wonkiness in the system, but I did keep the boxed set for a while, and I found the setting (the reality wars) an extremely creative and utterly compelling attempt a game design...even more so than Rifts or GURPS which tried to accomoplish a similar goal.

I'm wondering what happened to Torg. Is West End still in business, and, if so, do they still guard the Torg licence jealously. With the advent of d20 modern and (soon) d20 future, as well as several great resources for cross genre gaming...we might finally have a mechanical system that can do Torg right.

And while we're on it. Is there any other 'lost' game systems that you'd like to see ressurected? With the modular d20 rules, and the (relatively) low cost to entry d20 business model, there must bew a few creative gems from years gone by that could be given the overhaul they always deserved.

I've got a few...

1) Living Steel d20
2) Twilight:2000 d20
3) Rifts d20
4) Warhammer FRPG d20
5) MERP d20
6) GURPS d20 (joke...) :p

I know that Twilight:2000 could probably be done with the Blood & Guts suplement but I'd want an updated campaign setting book with a new string of events that lead to WWIII. Perhaps rename it Twilight: 2010. The same goes with Warhammer and MERP as I could use the D&D rules but I'd want setting specific source materials that mesh with d20.

Well, I don`t think that Torg would need a d20 System. Both system and setting work quite well, I think. What it would need are some people who continue to create some adventures for it. Creating good adventures is not easy, and Torg enforces well-crafted adventures, because the use of certain "plots" is partly integrated in the rules-system, (Think of the Drama Deck and its special cards like "Romance", "Connection", "Nemesis", "Martyr", "Mistaken Identify" and so on)...

I would like to see.

1. Space 1889 d20
2. Tekumel d20. (I think Guardians of Order are working on this at the moment. There is a tenative July release of the d20 verion.)
3. Rifts d20

Second the calls for Space 1889, and Twilight 2000 ala D20. They would both get my money and Space 1889 would get tons of it.

For me ...

Bushido d20
Pendragon d20
Runequest d20
Army Ants d20

Twilight: 2000 definitely. I asked the fine folks who make Modern Military if they'd do a T2K book, and their reply was "if we get enough interest". Also that they liked the idea, but had limited time for side projects. Sigh.

So go spam them with requests for T2K! (Kidding, honest!)

Who publishes Modern Military? I think I will go spam them right away! Actually if it is a good add on I may just dig out my old T2K book and start my own conversion. I wonder who'd I'd need to talk to about the legality of posting said conversion on the net?
