TPK - Therapy session.

Is that how the PC's would appear when down to 10hp? Right down to that bleeding stump?

There's also an NPC aspect to this - if the Big Bad is down to 10 hp, and the opposition is running around for positioning, does "escape or surrender" occur to the opponent? If not, why not? The only adversaries I can think of of would typically keep fighting when reduced that close to death would be some form of automaton - a living statue or animated skeleton, for example, and none of those descriptions fit such an opponent.

A resounding yes. If PC's are at high-HP levels and they have been reduced all the way to 10HP and likely to die the next time somebody looks at them funny, then yes. And any intelligent creature (including PC's, which is kind of my point to all my responses here despite the fact that I seem a bit unwanted) should flee when it becomes obvious that death may be imminent.

Apparently certain people in this thread dislike the tone of my responses, so I was just going to vanish from it. You asked me a direct question, though, so I figured I should answer it before pulling my disappearing act. It's really not worth the effort of giving sincere advice to somebody who seemed to ask for advice if the response is going to be the OP accusing me of being argumentative while he was being argumentative and others accusing me of makings things personal and entering a general "let's pile on the newb" mode just because I have few posts here. Way to make a guy feel welcome to a new community. I'll take my 30+ years of RPG experience elsewhere. Perhaps I'm just being overly-sensitive this week for some reason, but I'll stand by everything I said. My views are clearly unwanted, though, so bye.

Eh, don't take it to heart. I happened to agree with your posts and found nothing wrong with what you said or how you said it. I've been posting here for years and the first thing you need to know is that if you want to participate in this community, you have to walk on egg shells. Someone, somehow, will take offense to something you say here no matter how well you say it. Especially when it comes to criticizing gamers. People mistake being "blunt" as the same as being "rude". And "being rude" here is the same thing as cussing & trolling (a grown man will whine to a mod about it). :erm: The best critiques I've ever taken to heart was when a person was being blunt with me cause I'm thick headed & stubborn.

Absolutely, although in the OP case, they went from "hale and hearty" to "on the floor". That should, however, cause some reaction on the part of those still standing.

Not sure I agree with the appearance issue, though. If 100 hp reduced to 10 is a bloody, stumbling wreck cradling a bloody stump, what is 10 hp reduced to 1? And hands don't just grow back with time or a few curative spells.

I'd probably feel the same in your situation. Just so you know, neither the number of posts you've made or your gaming experience factored into my response. I responded to what you said because it seemed that you were disregarding other sides of the argument, which included mine. Peace :)

While a quick TPK as described would be shocking (and a short gaming night), I've always found TPK a chance to reset and do something more fun. The game that follows the TPK will likely be Epic!
