Thorn quickly moves in to engage you. For all of his size, he is quite fast. His glowing scimitar is a blur of motion and you find it all you can do to keep it from hitting you. [Attack roll (Thorn)= miss]

As you exchange blows with the warforged captain, the ship suddenly shudders violently beneath your feet. You struggle to maintain your footing, barely doing so [Balance roll= 6+4 (Dex)+2 (synergy bonus)=12, DC=12, success]. Thorn also manages to stay on his feet.

Looking around, you see that the Iron Hammer, lacking a pilot has drifted into the upper mast of the Cloud Dancer, the one that holds the elemental ring. The mast is cracked, but intact at this point. However, the Iron Hammer has caught fire being exposed to the searing heat of the fire elemental. It is small at this point, but it is growing.

You also note that fighting is still raging across the deck of the Cloud Dancer. It is hard to tell the exact nature of the battle with a quick glance, but it does not look as if the fighting is going well for the defenders of the Dancer. You see Davik and Yothcare standing together and the two Kraken Guards together nearby. Both groups are outnumbered, however. You do not see Captain Kravith or Vandane.

Next round:
Aalic
Thorn

Aalic looks at the destruction he had caused and thinks "Maybe that wasn't the greatest idea killing the pilot."

Aalic looks at Thorn and yells "Your ship is going down. Two choices waste time fighting me or save your ship."

Not letting Thorn have time to think about it. Aalic will attempt to tumble past Thorn and not let him have the chance to attack. Aalic will try to roll past Thorn and in a direction that gives him easiest access to the Cloud Dancer.

There is a thin haze of smoke around the ship as the fire grows. Most of it is streaming out behind the ship, though, being carried away on the wind.

Thorn's metal parts are a strange, shimmering blue-black color. The wood is a pale brown, almost white color.

Your knowledge of airships being rather limited, you're not sure exactly what to look for in terms of being "fly-able", however you think that the Cloud Dancer is in better shape than the Iron Hammer at this point, since the fire is rapidly growing. [Knowlege (airships) roll= 6+2= 8]

You duck and roll under the railing [Tumble roll= 7+11= 18, DC=15, success] and move toward the edge of the ship. You glance back toward Thorn and see that he hasn't moved. He is slowly looking around at his fire-ravaged ship. Warforged not having much in the way of facial expressions or body language, it is hard to tell what he is thinking. If you didn't know better, you would say he is shocked.

"My ship!" he cries. Suddenly, his eerie green gaze falls on you. He raises his scimitar and points at you. You find yourself shivering at the tone of voice. "You! I will flay you, cruel fleshling. I will make your weak flesh tremble in pain for the destruction of the Iron Hammer!"

He smashes through the railing on the platform and jumps down. The whole ship shudders, though you don't know how much of that was from the warforged's dense body or the continuing collision between the two ships. Looking back toward the Cloud Dancer, you see that the quickest way down would be one of the ropes the pirates used to board the other ship.

Aalic quickly makes for the nearest rope, sliding down as fast as possible. Not wanting Thorn to be able to cut the rope as he goes down. As Aalic slides down he will look around for the Cloud Dancer's pilot. Hoping to spot the man in the fray.

You slide down the rope and land in chaos.

Fighting rages across the Cloud Dancer. The dead and wounded litter the deck. Not many are pirates.

The two Kraken Guards are about twenty feet to your left. One of them is bleeding heavily. They are surrounded by six pirates and holding their own. Barely.

Davik and Yothcare are not far from the Kraken Guards. They have been pushed to the edge of the deck. Three pirates are advancing warily toward them. Yothcare gestures and chants words of power. You feel the crackle of magic in the air as three swirling blue balls of energy come streaking from the mage's hands and strike the three pirates.

The First Mate is still piloting the ship. It appears that the pirates have left him alone. He is looking up at the Iron Hammer and you realize tears are flowing down his face. Following his gaze, you try to find the source of his consternation. You look at where the two ships have collided. The Iron Hammer has begun to tilt and the docking port has become entangled in the elemental support mast of the Cloud Dancer. The two ships are stuck together.

Just then, two pirates come up from down below. They have clearly been looting, jewelry and coins are spilling from their pockets. One of them sees the Iron Hammer and his jaw drops. The other sees you and laughs. "Look, Houk, another one who wants to play." They both advance toward you.

Initiative:
laughing pirate
Aalic
Houk

The pirate who laughed closes in carefully thrusting with his short sword. You easily turn aside his blade [Attack roll (him)= miss].

Aalic thinks to himself - "Maybe it REALLY wasn't a good idea killing that pilot. O'well not much I can do about it now."

From the quick glance at the docking collar, is there anyway I could see to disengage the ships.

Aalic will engage the laughing pirate first. Using his sword to the best of his ability - Use another action point

The ships are so entangled by now that you see no possible way to disengage them from each other.

You continue to trade blows with the pirate in front of you. Finally, seeing an opening, you parry a slash aimed at your gut and counter with a thrust through his heart [Attack roll= 18+6+5 (action point)= 29, threat, Crit roll= 14+6= 20, critical; Damage roll = 3+2= 5*2= 10]. The pirate tries to laugh one more time, but only blood comes out. He crumples to the deck.

The pirate, Houk, moves toward you, but he stops suddenly as a thunderous crack comes from above. You both look up and see that a large chunk of the bottom deck of the Iron Hammer has broken off and pieces are falling all over the ship. You try and dodge a large chunk [Reflex save= 1+4= 5, failure] only to have a smaller piece connect with your head [Damage= 4 points] and knocking you off of your feet.

You struggle back to your feet, slightly dazed. Next to you, Houk is dead, crushed beneath the large hunk of wood you managed to avoid. Looking up again to survey the damage (and check for falling objects) you see something is wrong. The fire elemental is flickering and then suddenly it is gone!

You stand there stunned, unsure what to do. The only thing keeping you afloat at this point is the badly damaged Iron Hammer. The two ships are still badly entangled. Fire continues to ravage its hull and it is lolling to one side at a precarious angle, but it seems to be supporting the Cloud Dancer for the moment.

You see that more people have come up from down below, including the First Mate and some of the crew. Everyone, pirates and all, are standing frozen in shock. A hoarse cry breaks the silence, "What do we do now?"

As if on cue, a cacophony of voices follow:

"Olladra has turned her back on us!"

"Peka! Peka, where are you?"

"We're all gonna die!"

"Have you ever seen anything like this?"

The chatter of voices is once more cut short when the Cloud Dancer shudders and you realize that is is beginning to slowly tip upright. Before long, it will be completely vertical and no one will be able to stay on deck. For that matter, you don't know how long the Iron Hammer will support the Dancer.

Aalic looks in horror at what he has caused.

Aalic shouts over the crowds noise "Everyone on the other ship. Start climbing. When you get to that ship start putting out the fire. First Mate get them going! MOVE!!"

Aalic will scramble to the person or area where the person was asking about Peka. "Who is Peka? Where are they?"
