Transformers:the Movie trailer out

Back on topic- does anyone know if Soundwave is even going to be in this movie? If so, I wonder what he transforms into? Somehow I don't think he'll be shrinking down to boombox size, and if he's just a really small robot, then what must his tapes look like (Ravage and the others)?
Far as I can recall last hearing, Soundwave, as he is classically known, will not be appearing in this film.

Biggest reason is that while the notion of a giant frakkin' robot turning into a portable cassette player of some size is pretty neat, it's even remotely feasible in terms of "realism," which has been one of the buzz words the production staff have been tossing around, mostly due to the violation of physics in "so where exactly does all that extra mass go when he shrinks down to that size?"

Yep. The fanbois need to realize they aren't going to see giant toys walking around on the movie screen. The forms needed updating and revisualising for something more true-to-life than a plastic toy or cartoon.
I don't consider what was in the trailer "true to life." The designs didn't look good at all.

I saw the trailer on the big screen last night before... ugh... Night at the Museum... and it did look pretty cool. Like others though, I'm leary of anything Michael Bay makes. Especially since the two movies everyone seems to like - The Rock and Armageddon (no offense meant John, those just happen to be the two I always hear about from people) - I didn't like at all.
It's okay to not like stuff. My question concerning action movies (er, movies in general) is why didn't you like it? Was it too spastic, too many quick cuts? Because TF will have little to no plot, as did those movies. There was just enough character, style and conversation to make the two films in question very good action movies. I would ask nothing more of TF. Blow stuff up good, have Prime say the line, "Autobots, transform and roll out!" and all is well as far as I'm concerned. :)

Empire magazine unveiled the first official Transformer picture, of the quintessential Autobot, Optimus Prime.

It is FAAAAAAAR closer to the G1 design than the design images that leaked a few months ago. Compare:

I, for one, welcome our new tranforming overlords.

Look again.

The head is almost exactly like the G1 Optimus, with the straight "antennae", instead of the curving ones. The shoulder guards are less wavy. Most glaringly, the grill of the truck form is centered on his chest, unlike the prototype, bringing it closer to the G1 form. In the prototype, the chest was all gears and innards.

We can also take a guess at scale. The flaming part on the chest is the door of the truck mode. By that we can estimate the size of a human (about as tall as Optimus' head).
