Except that "The Island" was just awful, and the concept for that bore no more resemblance to reality than did "The Rock".
That's why I'm excited for this movie. Transformers is not a high concept, is it simply required to have awesome looking robots that turn into earth stuff, have some great fight scenes and blow stuff up real good.
Normally, I'd agree. But it's Transformers, which means he has my ridiculously inflated expectations to deal with. Call it "Big Robot Smackdown", and I'd judge it differently.
I know it's unfair, but that's the way that it is.
But, I'm not going to prejudge the film, and certainly not based on the director alone. I'll be there on opening night, ready to be entertained.
