Trimountaine Defenders

Question for the GM:
[SBLOCK]
If the opportunity ever presents itself, Adam would like to engineer a 'meeting' between Ice Cream Man and a villian that ICM could defeat on his own. Basically, Adam feels some empathy for the shlub and would like to help raise his confidence levels. And, he feels the rest of the party doesn't give ICM enough credit, so anything that raises their confidence levels would be good to.

So, to that end, he'd like to compile a list of villians that are at, or slightly below, ICM's power level.

Clearly not an urgent issue, but something that Adam is interested in.

Lucien accessed Baron's email and printed something out from Jackson Daniels. (This is normal, Baron gets tons of useless email. Lucien sifts through it and gives him the interesting bits.)

Jackson Daniels emailed Baron around 3 1/2 years ago, and Baron actually answered his letter. It seems that Jackson was researching an old, little known myth currently thought to be fiction. Jackson was convinced it was based on truth. Jackson had some old writings that no one could translate. Jackson brought them to Baron, who translated them. Baron also gave him a large some of money to further his research. Since then Jackson has been sending progress reports once a month. So far it has been months of finding information, following it through, and then discovering it went nowhere. (any questions?)

The other emails were pretty boring reading, are you interested in reading this one?

The "Patrol"

As the Baron starts to head out, Lucien takes him to the side.

Lucien said:
"You have an email from Jackson Daniels. It looks like it can wait until after your patrol. I printed it out and put it on your desk with the rest of your correspondence."
"Very well. I shall attend to it when I return, if it is not pressing."[/sblock]

The Baron will incant the Tear of Transportation to teleport himself high over the city, in a high-traffic area. After a short time (~10 minutes) of patrolling the area, he will create an illusion of a swirl of darkness off to his side. From that swirl will emerge ShadowGal. The Baron and “ShadowGal” will appear to have a brief conversation, after which they will fly “on patrol” together. When the patrol has ended, “ShadowGal” will again use a swirl of darkness to transport herself away, and the Baron will continue to patrol for a while, and then teleport himself back to Schloß Verblüffen.

Baron's solo patrol gets the normal notice. He is high enough that only people looking up would notice him. He would get the normal waves and gawkers.

Then, the ShadowGal entrance: The dark swirl is enough to catch people's eye. Lots of people stop what they are doing and stare up in the sky. People cheer, gasp and generally gawk.

Sheng
[sblock]Assuming you were in one of those areas, you would have people rushing over to you:

"That looked like ShadowGal! What was that swirl thing? Can she go invisible? Is that a teleport? Wow, I never saw her do that before... Is that a new power?"

OOC: ShadowGal can fly, but she hasn't shown the power of teleporting. You don't think the real ShadowGal has that power. But, heroes do gain powers all the time.

Needless to say, the "Is ShadowGal in the city" questions stop at this point.

Sheng...

Sheng will smile knowingly, as if this is part of what he was alluding it in his earlier enigmatic comments, but not answer the questions directly. "I will not say what ShadowGal can or cannot do, and I hope that her powers continue to surprise and intimidate those who would do evil."

"The important thing is that by working together, you and your friends and neighbors can help to defeat evil and wrong action in your own neighborhoods. And when you need help, you can call on me, or my friends and our allies to assist you in the fight. But the most important things we can all do is the subtle and constant work of being good neighbors and citizens and leaving no place for hate and violence in our own city."

Baron,

I have to say, in all our correspondence, I think this is the most positive. We have found the temple! I know that the last email would let you think that the last location was not correct, but all will makes sense after you see the location.

As you remember:

Digital picture of a helicopter view of a cliff near a lake with snow every where. A couple of flowering bushes can seen on the cliff face.

The search by air was less than fruitful. But, Carol wanted a few flower specimens, so we rappelled down the cliff. The rest of the crew came down after we discovered this:

Digital picture of an ancient temple, somewhat built in the cliff. The top of the cliff completely hides the temple from above. The temple has obviously been taken over by the vegetation, but the positioning seemed to have helped preserve the building. It still has some of it's original paint, and some symbols can be seen on the building.

As you can see, it was built in such a way that you can't see it from the sky. The way it is built into the cliff, it would be hard to see unless you are pointed straight at it. Even then, with rocks and snow, it is easy to miss.

The upper levels of the temple are in pretty good condition.

Digital photos of the temple interior.

(more description of upper temple. These should be public areas, not priest only.)

Sadly, the passageway to the lower section have been flooded. We have tried swimming to see the extent, but we have come to the conclusion we need a diving team. Ralf Sargent (Museum of History) has worked with one team, Down Deep and they are available. As you could guess, they are not cheap, so we are going to get more funding. (If you want to keep your same percentage, talk to Johnson. It may be a good idea, because the Museum of History seems to want to have more control on the outcome of the finds.)

I'll send another email if we have any more exciting finds, or in a month, whichever is earlier.

Warm regards,
Jackson Daniels

If you wanted to read the email, see above.

About the finding the low level villain, sounds good. You start working on possible matches now.

After a morning (and lunch) amongst friends and contacts in the city, Sheng jogs (at a leisurely 10mph or so) back up to the castle to check in with the rest of the team.
