Trip Attacks

I've always played Trip Attacks as an attack that didn't deal any damage, and if you happen to have a second weapon or iterative attacks, you can use those to cause damage. However, I've seen people declare a trip as though it is outside the bounds of the normal attacks and then attack twice with two weapons or complete a full attack with all their attacks.

Which is correct?

Do they have the Improved Trip feat?

Normally, a trip 'costs' an attack. If you have two attacks in a round, you could trip once and stab once, for example.

The Improved Trip feat, however, allows you to make a melee attack after a successful trip, effectively 'for free'... so with two attacks, you could trip, plus a free melee attack, and then take your second attack to stab... or even trip, plus a free melee attack, and then take your second attack to trip someone else, plus a free melee attack.

um, well if you have improved trip, you can trip and if successfully you get a free extra attack to hit them while they are down.

if you don't have improved trip you must use another iterative attack to hit them on the ground.

I couldn't fully understand your post so i hope i have answered your question.

*edit* your too quick for me hyp

I'm not sure if they had Improved Trip or not, but I suppose they must have and I didn't know.

Thanks for the info.
