trying to figure out my RL alignment

This came up because the municipal government here implemented wet/dry garbage sorting with fines for non-compliance.

Now generally I follow laws and like order not so much that I would call myself lawful but most laws make some kind of sense so I can manage to comply without having to go out of my way. I don't kill. rape, torture because I don't want me and mine killed, raped, or tortured. If they were I would likely respond in kind. I think those acts are acceptable when trying to win a war however. I do however speed, cuss, and on occasion loiter.

With this new sorting thing though I plan on soiling any dry goods I can so that 1) they can be put in "wet" bags and 2) to signify my displeasure at the government in my garbage bin.

I think that puts me in Chaotic neutral but feel free to enlighten me. I would still go out of my way to help a stranger in trouble, however some of my other "playful" proclivities at least mirror some of the things in BOVD/ BOEF but with safe words and well a clear mutually agreed upon line not to cross.

Well, the whole kill, rape, torture thing is not a Law/Chaos type of thing. It is a Good/Evil type of thing. Sometimes the law makes up rules for morale things such as these, and sometimes it doesn't (cheating on your spouse isn't illegal as far as I know, but it certainly isn't a "good" thing to do).

The whole garbage thing is more along the lines of Law/Chaos as there are no moral reprecussions for obeying or disobeying.

Based on my limited knowledge of you other than what you post here, I would have to go with either NG or CG.

LN, leaning toward CG, perhaps. Note that you are going out of your way to wet down your dry good so they are "legally" sorted into the wet garbage. You are complying with the letter of the law, just not the intent.

I presume the wet/dry sort has some valid reason, and, if so, then deliberately wetting down garbage simply because you don't like the law is really more juvenile than anything else. Is "juvenile" an alignment?

Now if you ignored the law, that's Chaotic.

Loitering can also be ignoring the law, assuming you are doing it in areas where it is expressly prohibited.

I want it "legally sorted" to avoid the legal repercussions of not sorting or sorting incorrectly, ie fines and a stern talking to.

So I am following the law not because I suppose it is the right thing to do but rather to avoid negative consequences for myself and my wife. I would guess that would be a rather selfish reason to do that and selfishness tends toward CN and CG.

As per evidence exposed by Penn and Teller the only valid (ie cost savings, not make work/feel good projects) form of recycling is aluminum and perhaps other metals everything else can be made cheaper, better, stronger if made new rather than from recycled materials. Even were that not the case it provides an inconvinience to me so either my wife will do the sorting or stuff won't get sorted, or more likely I'll do it and be cranky about it.

Juvenility would be chaotic in my estimation.

Speeding is due to arrogance... The road and car can handle more speed and I think I am better than the average driver for whom the laws are written. Loitering is more due to I just don't notice or care. If I am standing around talking to friends and not blocking an aisle, entrance or exit I don't think it is a big deal.

You sound True Neutral to me. Classic example of, 'guy who goes along to get along and won't do nastiness unless nastiness is done to him first'. True Neutral is usually going to be a pretty safe guess, because most people are TN.

A minor act of petty rebellion because you're annoyed hardly makes you chaotic.

Pay your taxes (but try to squeeze out a little extra refund when you can)

Then you are largely a lawful person, however, you are lawful because of the incoveniences associated with not being lawful.

As to those things, none of them are acts of evil, not even remotely. Being evil (imo) means you willfully and frequently perform acts that are to the detriment of your fellow human being, pets, property or the like and you do those things for your own advantage, pleasure or satisfaction. Very few people fall into this category, including a number of criminals.

As to chaos...qualifying as chaotic means you have rejected the typical social norms. You refuse to hold a job of any kind, contribute to society or act within the guidelines of your community. The ultimate in selfishness, with a complete disregard for the ramifications.
