TSR TSR CON is running at the same time as Gary Con in Lake Geneva

It's an old house.
This building is associated with Gary Gygax and perhaps the creation of D&D (if I'm getting that part right). Small museums like this converted from the homes of historically significant people are quite common.
But not THE house of D&D. The "museum" is the first building TSR used when it grew big enough to leave Gary's house. Gary's house where D&D was developed ALSO has D&D memorabilia but doesn't host the public. It's closer to Horticulture Hall, iirc.

There is nothing good about cranberry or anything adjacent to it that it touches.

You guys laugh at the small house but I'm going to defend it a bit. A building is generally considered historic for one of three reasons: A famous person is associated with the building, a historical event is associated with it, or the building itself is sufficiently old and/or has some sort of architectural significance. Is it a good museum? Beats me. I'll probably never go to Indiana but if I happened to be in the area I'll check it out and let you know.
Well, it's in Wisconsin, not Indiana, so you probably won't find anything of note Gygax wise in Indiana.

Chainmail was originally published in Evansville, IN, by Guidon Games. Evansville is a small city less than an hour from my even smaller town in Kentucky. I've read before that if Guidon didn't go under in 1973, it's possible parts of the gaming industry could've been located in Indiana.
So there's a snippet of obscure gaming lore.

I expect it was actually scheduled a long time ago, like, last March or something, when nobody could know what this March could bring.

And, once you've done all that pre-work, there's some sense to keeping it in place until pretty close to the event, in case the case numbers support it. My own home sci-fi convention was scheduled last January, for this for January 14th. They just cancelled today.
^^ This ^^

Luke Gygax has been pretty responsible with Gary Con. He has been conforming with all COVID guidelines and the planning for this event started last year. He is taking a gamble that events are going to either improve or at least remain stable. Even with that he has move a big chunk of the Con online and has reduced the in-person count for those willing to attend in real space. You can read their COVID policies on this page:

Personally, I am not willing to take the risk as I work in a home office near my 84 year-old mother and while I might escape the worst of COVID, she mostly likely would not (not to mention some immuno-compromised friends). Its all about risk and risk mitigation.

Now TSR Con? F' those guys.

The mockery is not just because of the size of the building, it is about them trying to sell 399 badges for entry into that building per day. The grift is real. Even if they were open 24 hours the whole convention they could not safely have that many people in such a small space. So, yeah I am a mocker with good reason.

There is nothing to defend in NuTSR's BS convention or the space they are attempting to hold it in. It is laughable that 399 people would pay for this low-rent affair that trying to coat-tail off of Gary Con and play on the grievances and fears of a subset of gamers to make a buck (And now I am not laughing).

But you see, it's not me
It's Michael tweeting angrily
TSR's dead, TSR's dead, but LaNasa's fighting
With his tweets, and his lawsuits
And his lawsuits, and his tweets
TSR's dead, and no products Ernie is writing

TSR is dead, TSR is dead
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie
This new TSR is dead, nuTSR is dead
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie, oh
This is the highest of art. The Highest.

The song is playing in your head now.

In your head.
In your head.

There are only three good museums:

1. The Museum of Historical Cranberries.

2. The Museum of Modern Cranberries.

3. The Museum of Fictional Places, like Atlantis, Lilliput, New Zealand, Bikini Bottom, and Canada.

Well, okay. I think it's irresponsible to schedule one for late March at this time.
I don't. You can cancel if things look grim by then, but it's not unreasonable to think the peak will have turned into much lower numbers by late March. In fact I believe one of Denmark chief epidemiologists is predicting just that.
