Hi,

I was wondering what the tumble DC to tumble through a friends square, while there in combat. How about if there not in combat and your tumbling to avoid squeezing.

TIA

i'd take it that the square that your friend is occupying is threatened by your opponent and tumbling would then negate any AoO (if successful)

I'd use tumbling through a threatened square as a start (DC15)

As for the movement through a square occupied by an ally? Since you can move through a friend's space unhindered i think that by the RAW there would not be any additional hinderences (i can't quote an exact rulling for that though). However for tumbling you may or may not consider the ally an obstacle for a DC modifier, or an ad hoc (house rule) modifier of +1 as the ally still kinda obstructs you.

Personally i think that this probably should go into the "DM's call" basket since it needs a couple of decisions to be made and not necessarily a strait reading of the rules. ;) As a DM, i'd personally add the +1 "allied obstacle" modifier, but probably could be argued out of it.

For tumbling to avoid squeezing? my "common sense" approach makes me think that it would depend on the cause of the sqeezing. To get through a passageway i'd say that you couldn't tumble through it (your speed is reduced and you lose Dex bonus to AC). To escape from some type of trap, maybe DC20-30 of the yop of my head, plus any to hit bonus the trap might have, plus probably being obstructed in some way (+2 to +5). But YMMV

You can move freely through a friendly square, and choose to tumble as part of that movement, if you like. As long as you finish in an empty square, there is nothing that will prevent or hinder this action. As mentioned, DC 15 to avoid an AOO, (+2 for each subsequent one), but failure will have no effect on passing through the square.

Edit: You know, maybe I didn’t actually add anything. Sorry.
