TURTLEDOME! (Battle Bone!) -- Part 2

[sblock=ooc]Honestly, we got locked down by the boneswarm and a few minions. What I'm learning about them is that, while I can take them out reasonably fast, Minions still do standard damage that just plain adds up, and they still AoO. With the HP I've got, I'm leery of moving boldly through them, even at full health.

Can we "Marco's Hopes & Dreams" each of us? Like, Drivan's in the same boat I am.

Can we scoop up Erlai's remains and put *them* in the green orb-thingies?[/sblock]

//First, sorry for not posting sooner. I forgot to check the forum since email notices are still down.

Ouch. Finnian is going to need some serious therapy. As for tactics, the announcers can stick it. :) Erlai was locked down by the skeletons (a few spaces from the two boneswarms), until Finnian cleared them out in one round.

My instinct is that Finnian would throw himself into a wild attack to avenge Erlai. The bone-tenant seems like an obvious target for his anger. If I go after him, I'll need to spend an AP or some tokens to get there.

Thoughts?//

did the bontinant do it, or the Swarms? We could use the backup, as we're both knocked prone by the suckers. If they kill us next round, that's about it for at least one of us until the combat ends.

I think what did it was the catapult skeletons. Good tactic, but brutal locking us down at the start of combat, especially at this level when we can't just click our heels together and teleport away. All mobility is shot, and not many hp. I'm surprised how easy it is to lock down someone in combat; my RL group gets it from gouls, etc., real easy and then that's it for the combat!

//You could try a stunt to pull Emral and Drivan out of the way of the BONESWARMs. Don't forget: If Drivan goes down, his radiant sphere goes down. That's a powerful tool to lose in the match, especially since it heals you guys if its close.

Y'all still haven't used the most powerful tools at your disposal, such as the lenses, the insta-heal potions, or the extra-action potions. I know you're thinking of saving them for a later fight, but if you don't survive this one, they don't have any value.

If you're going to use a token, don't use another generic token, because you'll lose the ability for an unconscious character to spend it and expend a healing surge to recover HP as a free aciton.//

Finnian's face goes slack when Erlai falls to the Boneswarm, he pauses to take in the skeletons facing him and the fallen companions, still breathing, next to him. A low growl builds in his chest and then erupts in a cry of pure violence. His eyes narrow and he yells out to the skies...

You will not take my friends!

He drops his hammer to the floor of the arena, takes a potion from his belt and consumes it in one gulp. Then, in a movement so quick and fluid that it is almost impossible to follow, Finnian reaches down to Drivan and pulls him quickly by one hand up and over his shoulder to try and throw Drivan onto his feet.

Dave, spirit, help me now to give me wings and fly on the winds that Erlai loved so dear!

Athletics Check (1d20+11=29)

He reaches to Emral as well, but this movement is hampered by the stretch to reach his friend.

Athletics Check #2 (1d20+11=17)

As the boneswarm lashes out at the casters being pulled from the ground, Finnian is able to place himself in harm's way by skillfully adapting to the swirling movements of the swarm.

The ranger drops into a crouch and bares his teeth, standing guard before his companions and daring the swarms to attack him as he protects them and shields them.

Has he saved them? or written his own death sentence?

[sblock=Stunt]Finnian is going to try a stunt to pull Drivan and Emral to their feet on squares M12 and N12. He will use an Athletics check to pull his companions. He is using his Yield Ground power to try and draw the AoO from Boneswarm 1 on himself as they move (it felt like the power fit with the intent of what he was trying to do - move with the attacker). He has sacrificed his off-hand weapon by dropping it to have a hand free to pull Drivan and Emral. He also uses his special Dave token to apply the benefit of the extra movement to this feat.[/sblock]
