Tellerian Hawke said:
Maka lays claim to a set of Dove Feathers and a set of Mourning Bird tail feathers...
GM: | NOTE:
Maka cannot receive the full benefit of the Mourning Bird feathers until he has acquired 10 ranks in the Collegiate skill. | |
Maka said:
"We should use the grizzly hides and carapaces to make armor for as many of us as possible."
Tellerian Hawke said:
Maka will also make a visit to the bowyer, and ask him about some of his more sturdy bows... Once he has purchased an upgraded bow, he will ask the party about using 10 of the party's 20 iron ingots to make a punching blade for his new bow...
Chass Verticort, the master huntsman, is also the village bowyer. While he is skillful enough to make a recurve, he has neither the material nor the special wood necessary to make a strength bow. The recurve does has a range improvement over the simple bow. Mallen Hammerstead, the blacksmith, listens to Maka's ideas about his bow, then discusses what he can actually accomplish. Maka is pleased by the functional adaptation.

Your character record has been updated to reflect the new bow.

Taylar... will get measured for his Grizzly tunic and will discuss with the others what else can be made with the carapace and fisher hides.
Vittero and Adi agree that they would like a tunic from the bear hide, but would like the fur removed.
Chass is also the village leather worker. His skill with skins is as excellent as Mallen's skill with ore. He can easily make the requested items. The fisher hides provide enough material to make either arm, shin, or leg guards, but only one set.

I need to know if each item is to have the fur removed, before I update character records.

... when all is settled, Taylar will visit with Vittero's father and ask about this Lord of the Day group and whether or not he knows anything of their attacks on villages.
Vittero accompanies Taylar to see his own father and brings the acquired journal with him.
Plascimon Luminet discusses the particulars of the local theology to the two. He conveys his astonishment and displeasure after learning of the attacks. He explains that they have nothing to do with religion.
[sblock=Theology]
The religion of Outpost follows the official religion of the Kingdom of Thisidaboga. The main deity is called the
Lord of the Day and is represented by the light source of the day, which is considered to be masculine. (He was called the Lord of Light but after Game of Thrones was published, I had to change this name.) The spokesperson for the Lord of the Day is called the
Divine Praetor. Vittero's father suspects that his power has begun to supplant that of the king's. This deity is considered to represent law and justice and sets forth a code of conduct. Neither benevolence nor malevolence figure into the teachings.
The wife of the Lord of the Day is represented by the silver moon and is called the
Lady of the Veil. She is considered to offer guidance in feminine 'duties' and craft of the arts. Together with the Lord of the Day, she gave birth to a daughter called the
Dawn. The Dawn has no physical representation but followers hope to catch a glimpse of her before the Lord of the Day outshines her by his own radiance. Sometimes, at the right time of year, a flash of light is seen to blink just before the sun rises. To see this is considered a blessing from the Dawn. The Dawn is responsible for bringing forth spring growth and beneficial rains. She is worshiped most prevalently in Outpost.
The former mistress of the Lord of the Day is represented by the orange moon and is called the
Mistress of Darkness. With the rise in power of the Divine Praetor, any patronage of the mistress is punished by public beating. She is still reverenced in private by wealthier members of the kingdom who hold private masquerade balls in her honor. She is also reverenced in some of the small outlying communities, which may be the cause of the recent attacks. Together with the Lord of the Day, she gave birth to a daughter called
Dusk. Dusk is the patron of harsh soldiers, and killers. She is considered to give knowledge of poisons, hence the current rise in aversion to herbalists, especially those who are not of Thisidan heritage.[/sblock]
Taylar will also inquire about any scrolls or texts about the Keep of the Rising Sun.
Minister Luminet has heard of the Keep of the Rising Sun. He explains that it was rumored to be an affluent hamlet back when the Yahdram were still a people. He knows no specifics. He offers that the librarian in Boga City may know more.
The Outliers spend 20 days in respite and general business about town. During this time Raven Elk seems enamored with the collected trinkets and makes little to no interaction with the others.
[sblock=Journal]Acolyte Avery reports to and receives his orders from Bishop Phillipe, but ultimately everything comes from the Divine Praetor, and that the priesthood has begun to proclaim prophetic visions which are dictating the current actions of the church and as a result, the soldiers.[/sblock]
