Spoilers TV Shows with Great Endings

Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Six Feet Under, The Americans have endings in perfection IMO they wrap up everything so nicely, its just perfect.

But I also enjoyed some endings that were deemed controversial. For example I love the infamous Sopranos ending with the scene in the diner and the sudden cut to black. For me its quite clear what happened, but I love the implicit execution (of the scene).

I think the entire final series of the West Wing was a really clever was to revitalize the series and end on a high after season 5/6 dip after Aaron Sorkin left.

Focussing on a new Presidential Campaign handing over the baton with Josh and two really likeable candidates really gets back to what made the West Wing great with a final ending both sad, fair, satisfying and hopeful.

There aren’t many shows that could have you rooting for both republican and democratic candidates because they’re both really good.

You are not bad, you just have bad taste ;)

This is undeniable. 😎

No honestly I can get why one might not get into it. Especially not if you watch it years later. Back then it was revolutionary TV, today it might seem outdated in a lot of ways. Also deconstruction of mafia genre is nothing new today.

I'm sure it's great TV. Something about it always felt uncomfortable.

Game of Thrones.....just kidding :)

I liked the ending to Black Adder. Breaking Bad was pretty good as well. I actually liked the Seinfeld ending (and I enjoyed the Curb Your Enthusiasm response to it: but I realize most people hated the way Seinfeld ended, and I understand the criticism of having a bunch of flashbacks was annoying as it was on the heels of a flashback dedicated episode). I, Claudius had a nice ending. However that is based on a book (and on history) so not sure if it counts. I think most shows haven't stuck the landing well for me. As a kid I recall the Family Ties ending working well for me, but no idea how that holds up as I haven't seen it since the 80s.

Honestly, "Also deconstruction of _______ genre is nothing new today" might be a universal statement at this point. There's so much content now, that by the time a genre has the chance to be fully formed, there's already satirizations of it and deconstructions of it already in the mix.

Tales of the Unexpected, at least some episodes. I also like series that never really end because they get cancelled.

Wow. I love this post. It's pretty much the antithesis of my OP.

Does a show without an official ending ever actually end? Even it's been off air for decades? Is Skippy still hopping about the bush, saving Sonny from his own stupidity? <mind blown emoji here>
