If there are attacks left after dropped the enemy, you might be able to throw some daggers.
Only if you take that extra -2 on all your attacks. It can still be a good combo, but it's one you have to comit to at the beginning of your attack routine, not an afterthought at the end.

You only need to enchant it once with +1, holy, flaming, shocking, frosty, acidic.
You do need to enchant both ends separately.

uh.. no.

As far as I know, each part of a double weapon have to be enchanted separately.. Meaning you have to do 2 x (+1, holy, flaming, shocking, frosty, acidic) Count the cost as if two separate weapons.

One big advantage is that you can use the same weapon focus/specialisation, plus that the damage often is decent for the offhand.. compare longsword/shortsword to a twobladed sword.. 1d8/1d6 vs 1d8/1d8.

Early on Oil of Shelleleigh (SP?) makes a quarterstaff the most desirable double weapon for my tastes. Two effective size boosts and +1 enchantment for 50GP. Turns your normal Quarterstaff 1d6/1d6 into a 2d6+1/2d6+1 machine. I once saw an impressive half-giant psychic warrior who enlarged himself before using the oil, between powerful build, size increases, and the oil his staff acted as if Colossal for 4d6 damage on each end.

Plus it's a simple weapon instead of exotic.

For Rapid Shot, yes. If you only use the remaining attacks with your main hand, then normally you already did so.
