Two hander style gets the axe shaft!

Two-Handed Style Mastery [Fighter]
Your skill with two handed weapons crushes your foes easily.
Prereq: BAB 12+, Two-Handed Style Specialization, Weapon specialization in two two-handed Weapons
Benefit: Whenever the character rolls a critical threat with a two-handed weapon, it is automatically a critical hit

Bad idea. Do you really want to see improved critical keen falchions automatically critting on a roll of 12+? Or weapon masters automatically critting on a roll of 10+. Adding energy burst, sharpness, or vorpal will make this even worse.

This is considerably better than even improved critical because:
1. It applies to a much broader variety of weapons
2. It stacks with improved critical
3. Unlike improved critical which will approximately give a 100% increase in criticals to a character whose weapon is not keen and a 50% increase in criticals to a character with a keen weapon, this will give an approximately 100% increase (assuming a 50% rate of crit confirmation) in the number of criticals a character gets whether the character has improved critical, keen weapon, or any other ability.

Re: My $.02

A bard/ranger "SERIOUSLY outperformes" a fighter and a barbarian?

Could you give us some examples of how he manages this? I would love to be wrong on this issue, so if he has thought of something that I have not, I would love to hear it.

I don't like any of those feats.

There is already feats that improve the str-bonus to double (for two-handed) or full (for off-hand), and I think they're to strong. It's really a penalty for those who have onehanded and shield.

Increasing both the crit range AND the multiplyer, and for all two-handed weapons at that, is way to much for a normal feat. I would disallow that even for an epic Feat. I would allow that as a Salient Divine Ability, and nothing less!

It's the same with autocrit all the time! Consider stuff like vorpal weapons (which are crappy the way they are, anyway), devastating critical, keen weapons, improved critical, you critical feat above, and that makes a sure killer.

By the way: if your bard/ranger seriously outclasses the others, try using real enemies, no sissies with AC 15 and lower. You'll see: when the bard won't hit everything, he won't outclass the real fighting machines anymore!

Just in case it hasnt been complicated enough, heres the homebrew feats i came up with...

There are several (ok... 15) others, inspired by the 2nd edition Fighters handbook, AND the fact that the "2 weapons vs. 2-handers" debate has come to the forefront in my campaign when the bard/ranger SERIOUSLY outperformed the single-class barbarian AND fighter.... so heres what i came up with...

Two-Handed Style Focus [General, Fighter]
You are skilled in the use of two handed weapons.
Prereq: BAB +4, Weapon focus in a two-handed weapon (bastard sword does NOT count)
Benefit: When using a two-handed weapon, the character applies double her strength modifier to damage.

Two-Handed style Specialization [Fighter]
Your mastery of the techniques of two-handed weapons makes your blows mightier.
Prereq: BAB 6+, Two-Handed Style Focus
Benefit: When using a two-handed Weapon, the weapon's critical multiplier and range are increased by one

There, lets see how much THAT stirs up.

*dives for cover*

They are all poorly balanced and overpowered. Was that what you were looking for?
