Two-weapon fighting with ranged attacks

First Post
Can a creature use two-weapon fighting to gain an additional ranged attack with thrown weapons (i.e. head sized stones)? My severly bruised Half-Orc is wondering how the stone giant ranger kicked his backside so effectively.

Two-Weapon Fighting doesn't apply to ranged weapons. Only melee.

EDIT: For ranged weapons, you need rapid shot.

Is there anywhere where the restriction on two-weapon fighting to melee weapons is printed? We rotate DMs in my group and different guys rule differently so we operate by rule of print or rule of precedence. I would prefer not to allow this particular precedent.

Just so you know, you can actually use your off hand to thrown another weapon, however you just get a hefty penalty for it (ie Two Weapon Fighting Feat doesn't apply). Ambidexterity does apply and there are some non-Wotc feats that allow you to use 2 ranged weapons at once.

Yup. Quint. Fighter has one called Twin Shot. If you don't wanna shell out the cash for a single feat, just take two-weapon fighting, change the name to Two-Weapon Firing (or something like that), and restrict it to two hand crossbows, or crossbows that are one size category smaller, or more, than you. Use the same penalty reductions as two-weapon fighting. That's it.

I do, however, recommend that you pick up the book. There's some pretty interesting content in there.

Yeah Dragonstar has Twin Gun Fighting. . I may have to adapt one of these feats for twin whip fighting Lasher
