Two weapon fighting

Theres an entire class based around this feature and not alot of set-in-stone rules that I can find in PHB1/2/3, or DMG1

I'm realatively new to DnD, mainly learning as I go in 3.25 with family as we have a fun semi serious group. . .

If I'm dual wielding do I get 2 basic melee attacks per round? Or do I just get to chose which of the 2 weapons I attack with if I don't use an at-will power?

If you have two weapons, you can still only use one weapon at a time for most powers. If you can use two in them, the power will tell you (and even will require it).

There is no penalty for attacking with either weapon. The feats for Two-weapon fighting only apply bonuses.

In order to have multi-attacks, you have to use one of the three classes that have two-weapon powers: Fighter, Barbarian, and Ranger.

Well I'm a ranger with two weapon fighting style.

I know there are no longer any penalties, I was just wondering if without using a power do I attack once or twice or more per round and where I can find info on that rule, like I said I can't find any of it in the DMG, PHB1/2/3.

Off-Hand: An off-hand weapon is light enough
that you can hold it and attack effectively with it
while holding a weapon in your main hand. You can’t
attack with both weapons in the same turn, unless
you have a power that lets you do so, but you can
attack with either weapon.

Hi Neuad, the rules are pretty clear about this.

The two-weapon fighting feat reads as follows:
"While holding a melee weapon in each hand, you gain a +1 bonus to damage rolls with your main weapon."

It does not allow you to make additional attacks.

As a ranger if you wish to attack more than once per round, you are best off selecting powers that allow you to do that, or use a build that gets extra attacks as free actions (such as a feycharger).

Cheers!

You cannot attack anything without using a power in any situation.

Even 'Basic Melee Attack' is a power.

Be happy with Twin-Strike- It's the most damaging at-will in the game, potentially.
