Light text on a dark field is extremely rare for a reason, it's hard on the eyes, especially once you get used to dark text on a light field.

Actually, all the studies I've seen have pointed to the opposite. It's much easier for our eyes to focus on (pardon the unintentional 4E pun) points of light in a dark field, rather than points of darkness in a bright field. Imagine trying to see black stars in a bright white night sky - it'd be impossible.

Actually, I find just the opposite... light text on a dark field is *easy* on my eyes, whereas light backgrounds, especially bright ones, give me bad eye fatigue when I've been reading them for a while. One of the reasons I like reading these forums now is because I can read lots of posts without getting an eyeache.

So... apologies, but chalk me up as someone else who finds the bright orange/yellow in the preview kind of eye-bleeding (plus orange is my least favorite color from an aesthetic perspective), and hopes there's an alternative dark scheme soon. :/

Peace & Luv, Liz
Exactly the same here. In fact, it drives me crazy, whenever people use bright slides with dark text for presentations. Unlike paper, a monitor isn't just a reflective surface, the bright colour on a monitor is actually much brighter than white paper, because white paper doesn't glow in the dark. Light background only looks 'more professional'. While bright background sears my eyes.

And my lecturers still don't get this lesson, and think of Powerpoint slides as of OHP-slides or paper printouts. Monitors (and to a certain extent beamers) are a different medium! :headshake:

But YMMV. And this rant aside, I'm looking forward to see Eee Enn World 2! Looks like you're doing a great job, Mr. Morris.

Cheers, LT.

Michael Morris must be stopped!!

This may be an interesting new messageboard you're developing here, but it ain't ENWorld.

Why did ENW2 bump gnomes just to give us tieflings?!

Just change for the sake of change.

Seriously; I'm not that keen on the color scheme myself. A little too "Hallowe'enish."

Then again, I run ENWorld with Stealth, so it's all black text on a light gray background with very understated graphics.

There's a 2002 database?

The accounts will continue to work, the threads will transfer - indeed they already have. That picture isn't a mockup - it's a screenshot of the development boards.

Good luck with the upgrade. I hope it all goes as smoothly as possible.

I too have to put myself firmly in the camp of "the new colors hurt my eyes".
