Why do I feel:
A - This thread's terminology originated on RPG.net; and,
B - The Original Poster has already decided what is "best" and wants to know how many agree with him?
Not meant to be a flame. The poll is legitimate and on-topic, but it does come off more than a little biased and judgmental.
A -I, as the OP, have never ever been to PRG.net forums and generated these terms on my own.
B - You are correct in that the descriptions are not without bias, and certainly could have been written better for a public forum. In reality they were originially generated for my gaming group as a tool to generate discussion on how to run games and how we run games. We most frequently do CL and wind up with the occasional feelings of frustration, I would like to try Dynamic, but have come to the conclusion that the one that is "best" for our group is actually the Revealed Linear with some elements of Dynamic.
So, don't mean to flame. Your comments are legitimate and on-topic, and in this case totally wrong. Plus, in general speculating about the motivations of other posters is considered inappropriate on these boards.
Edit: Let me add that I do see strong failings in the descriptions, mostly of Dynamic. So many people are claiming an "other" that they define as "free will" when what they are describing is almost exactly the same as what i would consider Dynamic. But, I come a fairly classical philosophic background in which the way you figure things out is to try to define them, discuss those definitions, and then redifine based on discussion with the learned community (you guys). No limited set of definitions is going to be accurate due to the diversity of the community and the scale of the variables. However, I do think it is a valid experiment, in that understanding and being able to codify the way that most people play will help in generating material with which to play.
And as such, Steel_Wind, honestly: no hard feelings.
