...killed, you mean? :)

lol....probably. But still that true strike would be nice for delivering touch spells.

Admittedly my odds as a summoner at 1st level are not great either....

that whole 1/round per level duration for summoned monsters sucks at 1st level. Too bad it isn't something like 2 rounds +1r/level...make it worth being a summoner from the start.

I just realized it would be 9th level before I'd grab Obtain Familiar since I plan to pickup Demonskin....admittedly I'll be renaming these to have a more far realm feel. I just like the idea of having DR Lawful and natural armor.

I remember there are a few custom summon lists from Dragon...I believe issue 302 and I heard something about issue #354...something about the Core Beliefs: Heironeous article opening up summoning of classed monsters...

are there any guidelines on doing this?

1/d, however, which isn't all that often.

Rapid summoning allows them to act twice at first level (1 standard action on the round summoned, 1 more before they poof)

Most of it is in Dragon 305 or 302. Many of the new MM's have other suggestions. But if you are going alienist, you are pretty much stuck with pseudonatural version of animals.

hmmmm...I read it as though I'd have to summon a pseudonatural version of the fiendish/celestial creatures...and their example of not being able to summon a howler as a 4th level summon monster was just because it would have to be a pseudonatural version which would make it a 5th level summon monster spell.

I'm not going to be keeping them all day....and it depends on what that one true strike is...summon up 5 critters that do STR poison damage...5 hits...5 saves...say goodnight...
