UA Variant - Aspect of Nature: opinions

Has anyone used this druidic variant? What are your opinions about it?

I was thinking about combining both Druid variants (druidic avenger and aspects of nature) for my next campaign's "druid" class.

Thanks in advance for your input.

I suggested playtesting the Aspect variant to my group.

I was greeted with howls of fury from my munchkin player (the reason I banned the class from my games).

That was all the proof I needed to wholly support this variant.

Perhaps you would be so kind as to refresh my memory: What features characterize these two variants?
(Remeber, UA is almost entirely OGL, so if you feel inclined to post details, you can post as much as you like about either of these two without infringing on product identity or copyright, short of just scanning in and posting an image of the relevant pages.)

Here's the Aspects of Nature Link in the Hypertext SRD

Instead of taking animal form, a druid with this variant form of wild shape takes on one or more aspects of nature when she uses her wild shape ability.

Aspects include ability score enhancements (eg agility, endurance), elemental aspects (eg Fire: The druid's body bursts into flame.) and other Special Qualities (eg Plant form, Flight, Aquatic etc). Some of these can be combined (eg Aquatic, Endurance, Vigour and Flight could be combined to create the Submariner:))

I've not tried it in play but they actually look kinda nifty so I'd be willing to adopt them (especially as I was already working on a 'rage variant' that give enhancements to ability scores other than Str and Con )...

As for the Druidic Avenger variant, you basically get Rage instead of an animal companion...

Thanks for the input so far.
