[UK] EN World GenCon UK Gathering

Thanks for the bump Miho. ;)

Would you like to join S'mon, Upper_Krust and me for the Isle of Woe Living Greyhawk slot on GenCon Saturday from 12 to 2pm (slot 13b)? We'll be 1st level.

If anyone else is interested, please say so!

Erm.. actually I'm one of Beholder Burger's four friends. Hello :)

I was bumping it in the hope he would notice a response was required

I would like to play for certain, but I don't really know anything about Greyhawk. Is that a problem? Or could I pick it up quite quick? :(

It won't be a problem at all! Greyhawk was the first D&D setting and is pretty standard. I'm not a great Greyhawk expert myself, and I don't anticipate any problems. Con organisers/module writers/DM's don't assume you have much knowledge of the game world.

The PC generation system is the 28 point-buy described in the DMG IIRC. Greyhawk specific details can be found at:

Greyhawk PC generation

I'm not sure if this is the latest version, but even if it isn't, it probably won't make any difference as we'll be 1st level.

You'll need to purchase a ticket for this event. Details can be found at the Raven site. My guess is this will be very popular, so I strongly advise you to get your ticket ahead of time and not to turn up hoping you can buy a ticket at the con.

Please keep me posted and let's see if we can get Beholder Burger and another one of your friends involved. :)

I was thinking that we might have the EN World gathering immediately afterwards around 2.30 or 3.00pm. Let me know what you think. ;)

I found this from RPG guru Phil Masters on UK games roleplay:

"Roger Burton West wrote:

Except that, as I understand it, Raven are organising the details of
this event.

Anyway, there was money charged for the RPGA games at previous UK
GenCons. The *problem* is that, previously, there was also plenty of
space for demonstration and member-run games with no charge, going round
the clock if anyone wanted. This year, the *only* 24-hour space
available is that controlled by Raven - and they appear to be insisting
that *any* game run in that space has a charge."

- This may mean that I won't be able to run a game after all.

Anyone know anything about this?

I got this back from Raven (very promptly!):

Hi Simon.

You have heard incorrectly. Please let those who misinformed you
know thats the DOG's rules are as before and as follows

There will be a DOGs board and sign up forms for use.

Table spaces will be available to book through the RAVEN Desk.

They will know which tables have been allocated and hence which
tables are available in any slot.

I hope this is alright.

Any further question please ask.

All the best

So I guess that's alright then.

Hey Zander

Well me and my friends (well at least 3 of us) will be up for greyhawk i think. Me and Miho defo are anyway. So what are we gonna do about meeting up?

We need to know what we have to book in advance for as well.

This is our first GENCON

This is our first GENCON

Here's what to do:

1. Each of you will have to pre-register for GenCon for any day(s) you wish to attend. Then, pick up your entry passes before 6pm on your first GenCon day (or the day before if your first game starts at 12am or 1am). Pre-registration info is at GenCon UK

2. Purchase gaming slot tickets from Raven for each of you. For the Isle of Woe game, select Isle of Woe, Slot 13b, Sat 12pm. Details can be found in the Raven Shop at Raven

3. Join the RPGA. This is now free and can be done at GenCon in a few minutes.

4. Create a 1st level PC using the 28 point-buy system. See the link in my previous post. S'mon and I are creating dwarven cousins: his PC will be a wiz and mine a fighter. If you like, you can 'join the family' by creating dwarves as well - but that's up to you. The organisers recommend a mix, so you may want to pick a variety of classes (a cleric with lots of healing would be good, hint, hint). Please let me know what you decide. You need to have a miniature of your PC for this game. I can lend you one if you like.

5. Meet up at the game. Just before each gaming slot, participants gather in the area outside on the upper floor just ouside the gaming hall. I'm not sure if this will be the case for Isle of Woe, but we'll be told if it isn't. Then it's just a matter of getting together.

As for the general EN world meeting, it looks like S'mon will be running a game on Saturday afternoon or evening after Isle of Woe.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Also, please keep me posted about Isle of Woe. ;)

well, i am one of beholderburger and miho's friends who were mentioned, if they are defo playing, ia m defo playing.count me in.

Excellent! :D

Please contact Beholder Burger and Miho and follow my instructions above. If you have any questions, please post them here.

I'll run a Delegate Organised Game (DOG) on Saturday afternoon/evening, assuming there's room, and mark it on the DOG board as "unofficial EN WORLD D&D game" or similar so you know where to look!
Currently I'm still inclined to run a game with the PCs as heroic Amazons out to rescue the Heart of Rigg from the evil Mabden sorcerer Enoar and the insane warlord Morius... ;)
