Next time we see something "censured" we know its yet another elven subrace.

... maybe they sould change it from "forgotten realms" to "elflandia" ...

is it me or are elves the only dying race that has more subraces to help keep them all alive? I mean seriously it's up to at least 7-10 subraces of elves that are around and they are all 'dying' to leave this plane.

I say good for them, let them leave, my world is doing just fine sans elves.

Well we have ...

Moon elves.
Sun elves.
Wood elves.
Wild elves.
Sea elves.
Drow elves.
Avariel (elves with wings).
Star elves.

Thats 8 subraces alone.

Now if we add Greyhawk ...

High elves (almost equal to Moon elves).
Grey elves.
Valley elves.

And convertions of 2nd ed will give us ,,,

Snow elves.
Rockseer elves..

Now this is only elves, other demihuman dont have as many suraces as elves half ...

Pathetic ... but then again, most of the lately FR stuff is pretty pathetic anyway so ...

I think at some point they dropped the whole "Elves are a dying race" thing. I don't think I've ever seen of single mention of that in 3e.
It's in the FRCS.

For one, elves were never 'dying', they were leaving, for Evermeet (the Retreat). Hell, in the old Grey Box you got the impression that the majority had already left.

The FRCS introduced the idea that the Retreat was over: all the elves who were going to leave had already done so and many who had left are now returning.

The dwarves, on the other hand, were a dying race in 1e/2e Realms. The FRCS retconned that as well, with the Thunder Blessing. 70+ years ago the dwarves had a baby boom, and now their population is on it's way back up.

Both good ideas in a game where you can play whatever the heck you want to.

I like elves alot, but I can't really come up with a good argument for having 10 flavors. Are there any that I missed?

I'll agree that the either Wood or Wild elves need to go (redundancy), but you could easily find a niche (and more importantly, a player) for all of those subtypes.

Possibly those Snow Elves...the jury is still out on them being in Faerun. Also, if you're going to count Fey'ri as a specific elf subtype, you might as well count draegloths also (from Monsters of Faerun, they're drow/glabrezu hybrids).

And as long as those Star Elves are CG, I'm happy. :D

Following the astronomical Sun elves, Moon elves, Star elves series, what are the chances of seeing any of the following soon?

Comet elves
Meteor elves
Planet elves
Asteroid elves
Quasar elves
Black Hole elves
