This year I will be hosting the anual UnCon In Character dance. However, I need ideas for a theme and I figure, who better to come to than the ones who will be participating?

Since we havent had a dance in some time I'm hoping there's been plenty of ideas brewing in your heads. Now's the time to share!

Here's my idea: "An Evening of Opposites" where women ask men and lead in the dances, where everyone has to behave opposite their normal.

Please post ideas here or email me at nashira@wizo.wizards.com with themes and ideas for the in character dance. I'll make sure if your idea is used that you are given credit for it. Thanks to everyone who participates!

Cross-Species dance!

Okay, I know when you first read that, you were like "THAT IS DISGUSTING!" But I'm not talking Illithids sloppy-kissing Otyughs here, alright? I mean, dance with someone out of your immediate race. Elves, drows, and any other variations can't dance with eachother, but rather they have to dance with humans, dwarves, gnomes, halflings, halforcs, faeries, nymphs, etc.

All species have to dance with those of others. All subraces count as same, so do half races. That means it's going to be particularly hard for halfelves to get a date, sorry.

Why cross-species dance? Because that way we can put aside all fueds and fights and malice towards other races for a nice friendly dance. Plus it's funny seeing a half-orc dance with a halfling. C'mon, give it a shot, instead of pairing up all the normal flirtatious couples, mix it up a bit. Or one could stick with dancer's choice to provide a climactic event for romances which have been building for a while. Either one is good with me. :P

But I'm not talking Illithids sloppy-kissing Otyughs here, alright?

I just read over my post, and realized that I had to quote this sentence as my duty to Quotzon, patron deity of quotes.

I rather like opposites..

Except, instead of acting opposite, which might lead to some trouble, they could dress opposite.

However that ends up working out... would be for players to decide.

ooh im glad i found this thread. :D

I've missed the in character dances. They always were quite fun. :)

Not sure if these ideas are any good, but hey, can't hurt to share them :)

List-eth of Ideas-eth

1. Wear your heart on your sleeve: Basically, characters would dress as someone they either admire or love. Masks would be appropriate for this i think. Could be interesting.

2. Invitations Only: This idea, would basically be, characters would ask their potential 'dates' via an invitation, hand written, or otherwise in-directly delivered. No names given as to whom is asking them. Simply a designated dress attire, to wear as a match set. Then, when characters arrive, they find their dates, etc...by the same themed attire.

End-eth List-eth

Ok, well i personally really like the second one. :) but just thought i'd contribute my thoughts. :D

What if... the person had to dress opposite, as stated by Donny, but they had to dress as their partners?

That'd cause some interesting looks...

....especially in Nev and Donny's case XD heehee!

hmmmm...cross dressing dance? heh, about time the rping section gets to do an annual dance, as to the theme of opposites, i think people dressing normally opposite of their nature would be probably interesting...

via celestial Bhryn (example above) coming in dress in a almost informal gown similar to what a female fiend would wear to a party (course i've imagine it would be scantily clad, but hey, this is is a dance..)

You just want to see Bhryn scantily clad, Rajak! :: looks amused ::

I personally want to see Nev in a girly wig. :: smirks :: it'd be something to remember for the rest of my life!

Hmmn...I can see it now "Cross Dress Your Partner for the IC Dance!" That will either be a hit or everyone will hate me for it! LOL:D

I see a slight problem occuring here... about half the female characters wear male-style clothes anyway. Ie trousers and shirt. So...where the diffrence for them? It would be just like their partner picking out the colour? I like the idea of the invitation and turning up in a certain colour to meet their date but there would have to be a list so people know which colours have been taken. But it shouldn't be invite only I don't think... The corss- species also sounded really good....
