Undead cleric - turns himself?

If he was all by himself and turned, I'd let the stupid PC be Stunned for a minute, with the word "Dumbass" ringing in his ears :P.

I meant this sentance to be humourous, and have highlighted the "all by himself" to emphasize my original intent. Although it would be unfortunate to be in a situation with 3-4 undead, and have them all be >= your cleric's HD but in that situation i would rule that the cleric was simply cowering for the one round, then return to normal. As a bit of metagaming, one lone undead vs the party is usually to high for a cleric to turn, so He shouldnt bother. With multiple lesser undead to provide similar difficulty, thier HD are usually somewhat lower than the PC's. An encounter with 3-4 Undead of >= HD to the cleric may be a challenge the party should consider a tactical retreat, and the 1 round cower would definitely let the cleric know that all the baddies were >= his HD.

Ghosts don't have to be evil. But anyway, if you did turn yourself, the effect would be ruined as soon as you approached yourself, so a proper amount of introspection should solve your problems. The self-actualized undead have nothing to fear.

Would you please demonstrate this 'approaching yourself'? lol
Well, undead which are not able to flee from the turner, in this case, by virtue of being the turner, will cower. This cowering process, obviously, compacts the cowerer into a more cowering position. Try it.

Of course, this is supposed to break the turning, since the turner has now continued to approach the turnee. Of course, it's entirely possible that doing this will create a divide-by-zero error, which can either crash the universe, forcing the game to be restored to its last save point, or create a black hole, because black holes are where God divided by zero. The consequences of this range from potentially exploitive, to simply unpleasant for the turner, and maybe his entire party. Being turned into a black hole is somewhat similar to being sucked into a sphere of annihilation, being that a sphere of annihilation is probably just a black hole equipped with a magical shield to prevent it from sucking everything in, such as the atmosphere. Either way, the ensuing mess will require a True Resurrection to fix, and then you won't have to worry about the cleric being undead anymore.

No matte how tight of a ball I scrunch myself into I never really get any 'closer to myself'. I am always where I am ;) I know what you are trying to say, I just dont agree, that is all..lol

Especially in d&d where creatures are more or less delocalized inside of their squares. Are you approaching your square? no. Are you feeling it? no. Is there anywhere for you to go to do either? no. Time to cower ;)

Which is fine, and how I would do it in my own game even, but then it is hard to tell if it is a houserule or actual rule. A very fine point sometimes, but important on occasion as well.
