Underdark Overview, aka Return of Drow Weaponry

Nightfall,

Nothing on gods that I have found yet, or greater demons. Sorry. Doesn't mean there is nothing in there about it, just nothing under a major heading.

Davelozzi and others asking about Imaskari,

Your info about the ancient empire is correct. The cliffnote version of what is in Underdark is that when they got their rears handed them, they fled the surface, found a massive huge underground chamber and sealed it off with magics so powerful that it includes a suggestion spell that makes most people who even think about the Imaskari think that they were destroyed.

They lived through several upheavels of power in thier own ranks, including invasion from some of the Inner Planes. The sealed themselves off from even the inner planes then (they had portals to the inner planes before) and have been fairly peaceful for the past 600 years.

Then one of em got the bright idea that it was time to see what the rest of the realms had made of themselves in the past fifteen centuries. Much debating went on and finally they cracked the seal and have start to send individual scouts and spies out into the Underdark. So paranoid are they that they exercise the location of Deep Imaskar from the Imaskari spies and scouts brains! Brutal.

So anyways, they use spells and magics for almost everything. They GROW water on plants. The water beads up shaped like a fruit that can be plucked, and until poked with something sharp, maintains it shape, then when poked, it bursts into just pure water. Nifty.

They are a very weak race though, most of their fighting skills have devolved into ritual dance moves. Expect them to be a push over in melee and damn potent with spells.

I looked through the entire spell section, then seeing where it was in the ToC list that was posted I went back and looked again. No good. Unless I am just missing it. *shrug*

Sorry.

Okay. Well if you find something please let me know. I'm curious about how religious factions affect change in the Underdark.

What a waste of a PrC.....a more spellcasting oriented assassin.....jeez. I'm still waiting for a non spellcasting - more fighter oriented assassin. :) That would be neat :)

Check out Dragon 312, I have 3 non-spellcasting assassin classes, including one that is fighter-oriented. :)

Hello,

Drow weaponry being back is hardly a thing to be celebrated, to me. It's one of the most blatant and cheesy hose-the-players mechanics I've ever seen in a game. "Let's see, I want to face my players with large numbers of enemies packing potent magical weapons, but I don't want characters who survive the bloodletting to actually have large numbers of potent magical weapons. I know! I'll simply have the weapons crumble to dust outside the dungeon environment, like an untreated crysknife left on the table overnight! Yeah, genius! That'll show those darn players who's boss!"

The concept is on the same level of creativity and fun as no-teleport zones and über-powerful NPC-only Classes.
