Underwater creatures, HELP!

That works for me. I updated it with those scores. I also gave it Weapon Finesse as a bonus feat (just like the stirge), so it would have a chance at making the initial touch attack.

looks good, for the final stats:

Environment: Temperate and warm marshes and underground.
Organization: Solitary or Swarm (2–12)
Challenge Rating: 1/2
Treasure: None
Alignment: Always neutral
Advancement: 2-3 HD (medium)

Updated. Does 12 pounds sound OK for weight?

Do we want to work this in somehow?

In addition, while attached to a character, each land lamprey will encumber the individual; this is equivalent to a loss of 1 point of dexterity per lamprey attached.
or this:

Land lampreys can be removed only by killing them or exposing them to fire, whereupon they will release their hold in an effort to avoid the flames.

Do you think the bite should cause more than a single point of damage? Have you seen the teeth on those things, not to mention they are small sized. 1d3 sounds in order.

Agreed. I made the suggested change.

How about under the attach ability, we add the following: "Each land lamprey attached to an individual counts as 12 pounds of gear for purposes of carrying capacity and encumbrance."

Land lampreys can be removed only by killing them or exposing them to fire, whereupon they will release their hold in an effort to avoid the flames.
And also add: "If an attached land lamprey takes even one point of fire damage, it will immediately release its victim."

Thoughts?

Looks done to me. All we do now for the aquatic version is make a blurb at the end of the monster write up stating that aquatic versions do exsist. Add the aquatic subtype and replace the land speed with a swim speed to simulate these.

Check it out now. How does that look? I basically modified the scrag paragraph under the troll entry. I gave 'em a very slow land speed so they could crawl back to water if landlocked.
