UNDERWORLD: is it just VTM meets WTA?

Subject line pretty much says it all. I've never played any White Wolf, so I'm not in a position to say. After watching the trailer on Apple.com, though, I can't help but wonder if someone who plays those games a lot decided to use them as inspiration for this re-re-re-re-re-remake of "Romeo & Juliet."

Is there a new trailer? I haven't seen anything on it that made it look Romeo and Juliet-esque.

I think it is meant to capitalize on some of the WoD, but the history of the vamps and lycans is going to be a lot different obviously. These are oldschool werewolves I think, not the (mostly) good guys from W:tA.

I dunno if it's new or not, but in the promo copy on the page it describes a Romeo & Juliet-like theme.

Nope, that's the same old trailer. I certainly see the potential for the Romeo and Juliet thing, feuding houses and all, but from what I remember of the basic storyline the two houses are fighting over a mortal man. I'd say if Beckinsale's character goes for anybody it's him. Not likely for the cross-species love story anyway as I also think the lycans killed her family.

I wasn't trying to say hat a movie baed on those elements would stink, I was more curious than anything else since I never played any White Wolf.

Ah.

Well, truthfully, it doesn't really look to be at all based on WTA... Werewolves in WTA are far different than the average concept of a werewolf.

Also, it can't ba a VtM movie without the clans.

At the same time, I don't know if the werewolves in Underworld are infected.

If it's a war based from centuries, I'd probably say there's some kind of genetic/ familial tie to teh werewolves.

Looks nice enough, might be worth a watch. I wouldn't doubt a WW inspiration, but then it's not like WW invented the stuff, there's been so many different interpretations of all that material through the years.
