Unhallowed Previews

Okay photo posting time again, here's the 5 minis we've seen pics of in the last week courtesy of the weekly Miniatures Preview column and the monthly What's New column:

Stone Giant Runecarver

Out of all of these I'm really liking the Shield Guardian, the Stone Giant and the Bat. Not that impressed with either of the wizards though.

This weeks figures (5) are okay. The mages are just that- more mages. The carpet is a nice touch. For a Giant, a Rune Stone Giant is not high on my list and the Shield Guardian is not a high one on the golem list either.

For the bat... I have a dozen painted from the Games Cidetal DnD series.

The first week I really wasn't happy with anything. Still hoping for some neat stuff I want to use.

My group happens to have 2 shield guardians that accompany the party, so that figure 'rocks' for us. Other than that, the Stone Giant is nice because I had missed out on earlier stone giants. The Wizards are fine, nothing too great. The Bat is cool, but I hope it is a common so that I might get more than 1 of them.

Overall, the selection is a little lackluster, but that is OK considering the funds that I spent on the last 2 sets (Bloodwar & Dragon Queen), I could use a little break.

That's my problem too -- I've got four Citadel (Medium-sized) bats, and I've never used them, so I doubt I'd use Tiny bats either, except maybe one as a flying familar proxy.

Claudio,

That's what I thought too after looking at it.

*thinks the bat is an unnecessary waste of a mini spot* Shield Guardian though is kind of nice...

I thought the same thing. Was not a fan of that Illo.
You and me both, Frank! And I like quite a few of Jeremy Jarvis' pieces (like the Church Inquisitor in Complete Divine).

Personally I'll be using the Shield Guardian as a de-facto Iron Golem. I got into the minis scene incredibly late and they seem to be one of the figures that are almost impossible to come across. Getting a beholder would be nice too, even if this one is undead. My chances of getting one of them cheaply (read: less than $40) are remote at best.
