What is soo damn funny is the vampiric dire wolf has smaller fangs than the normal dire wolf mini!
[imagel]http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/mi20070125a_werelord.jpg[/imagel] And here I thought the preview was a Nessian Warhound. I like it a bit, looks less friendly than the winter wolf but those spines feel unneeded. Though at least they are not as god awful as those ridges on the fiendish dire wolverine or those wedges stuck into the dire bear.
Now speaking of oversized canines, the next guy keeps in theme. Almost like he leaped off a Ron Spencer Illo for Werewolf: the Apocalypse. He is the right size for the Crinos / War form mini. He also is a great choice for the PHB2 Shapeshifter druid’s 8th level form. Large, nasty fangs & claws, IMHO a good fit. And here is a tip, when DMing and you want a Claw/Claw/Bite 10’ tall werewolf like those from the werewolf RPG and a few movies, just use the Brown bear lycanthrope stats while keeping the chaotic evil alignment and describing it as wolflike.
Not overly fussed about the Vampiric Dire Wolf, but I love that Werewolf Lord, first mini of this whole set that is a must have for me. Think I'll be getting any figures from ts set on the singles market rather than buying boosters though, too many figures (thus far anyway) that I don't want.
I love the wolf. In D&D, it doesn't matter that it's supposed to be a vampire in dire wolf form - it's a new dire wolf, it looks better than the old one, and it's uncommon to boot. I'm going to get a whole pack.
