[sblock=ooc]Good job, all, on the skill challenge![/sblock]
[sblock=garyh]Not that it really matters, since I think Zhen missed the bigger zombie anyway, but I think rotters are minions - so if you hit it, it's dead; no need to apply Flurry of Blows.[/sblock]

Empathy continues to target the bloodied zombie, but her attack goes completely awry.

[sblock=ooc]standard: mind thrust on risen 95: NATURAL 1! For nearly max damage, of course.

First Post
A multitude of red eyes glowed from the amorphous form of Lith, while a half dozen slavering shadowy jaws snapped at the shambling corpse. Then as suddenly as it had attacked it ceased, drifting silently toward the other zombie.

Hrmph, some of these are as weak as twigs while the others have unnatural resilience. Rajin looks on in distaste at the abominations as he steps forward before tossing another bolt of lightning from his dagger. The force of the spell shifts him backwards again from the foes.

[sblock=OOC] Still can't really use my AoE spells.

Raijin's lightning lances into one of the zombies and tears it apart at the midsection. The other zombie reaches into Lith, grabs something, and pulls out. Lith disperses, and Lily suffers from the feedback. The undead opens its now empty fist and heads towards the girl.

[sblock=ooc]I assume Rotter 32 doesn't actually exist, right? The status still mentions it.[/sblock]
Empathy blasts the zombie, trying to lower its effectiveness, and then moves quickly to try to get out of its range. Nothing she does seems very effective.

[sblock=ooc]standard: Dishearten on zombie: 9 vs. will. Wow. It'd be nice if I could roll above 5. That'd be great. Well, now we are certainly testing the lower bounds of this zombie's will defense: if that hits, 11 damage and -2 to attacks TENT. I think we know 11 hits and 8 misses; how's 9 work out?

Raijin moves with firm intent, looking far down the temple he flings out his arm to throw arcane energy at the zombie. Instead the dagger falls from his hands and the thunder and lightning strike the floor pushing him back. You see emotion flash over his normally calm features. Will these dead give us no rest?

First Post
Lily gave a little yelp of pain and doubled over. She reeled for a moment, then shook her head and gritted her teeth, Lith began to pull itself back together next to the zombie. As that occurred Lily raised the skull she carried, and whispered a quick spell. There were no shortage of angry spirits inhabiting this place, and Lily called on them, redirected their fury toward the rotting corpse, unleashing small stream of ghostly figures that flew from the skull to harass and torment the undead. Satisfied her spell had worked she dove behind Zhen and Lith, happy to stay out of the reach of the zombie's decaying claws.

[sblock=Lily's Spirit Primer (Please Read!)]
Spirit companions are complex critters, so this is to remind everyone, myself included, of the important points. The first three items are probably the most relevant to the other players.
  • Any of Lily's allies who start their turn adjacent to her spirit companion can shift 1 square as a free action, as the first action during their turn.
  • Any of Lily's allies adjacent to her spirit companion gain a +3 bonus to their damage rolls against bloodied enemies.
  • Lily's spirit companion occupies 1 square, Lily's allies may move through its space, but her enemies may not.
  • Lily's spirit companion may be targeted by melee and ranged attacks. If a single attack deals 11 or more damage to Lily's spirit companion it disappears and Lily takes 6 damage. Otherwise her spirit companion is unaffected by the attack.
  • Lily's spirit companion uses Lily's defenses.
  • Any enemy that leaves a square adjacent to Lily's spirit companion without shifting is subject its Spirit Fang attack. (This is an opportunity action and so may used once per turn, rather than once per round. Since there is no reason not to take this attack DM please feel free to roll them as necessary.)
  • Lily's spirit companion is unaffected by terrain and environmental phenomena.
