Unusual Race/Class Combos

I am currently playing a half-orc druid...

Yeah, I'm running a 3E half-orc druid at the moment. She's got a chimp companion, who isn't much use in combat... but I think I may have just picked up another... sort of a giant pterodactyl thing. Kinda like a Fell Beast, I guess.

Which could be much more interesting... we'll see where it goes

Lukda's a sailor-druid... mostly interested in the aquatic and the exotic. Which is interesting, given that the city we're based in is in the middle of the desert

Not in 3e, but, in one of my 2e campaigns (I DM more than not) one of my players had a Halfling Paladin with a Dervish style kit.

After 5 years of 3e, I don't think any race/class combo among the core races and base classes are unusual.

Now, if you factor in non-core races and base classes, you can indeed get unusual combos. Like a githzerai wu-jen.

I've had a good time with a Gnome Barbarian NPC and a Half Orc bard PC (One of these days, will play one long enough to do some levels of War Chanter and Agitator).

Done a dwarf bard, halfling paladin and a halfling cleric. All were great fun.

Got a halfling rogue/fighter/cleric/shadowdancer/mystic wanderer. (Well, not MW already, and he's no longer a halfling since he was resurrected, but hey.)

I got one that is very different than the norm. I played this character, Jarak, for a few months, and he was a blast. He was a drow who started off as psychic warrior, became a cleric of a god of mercy, and his fourth class level was a paladin.

Jarak, Drow Psychic Warrior 1/Cleric 2/Paladin 1. He was cool. And he followed a God of Mercy (Jarak never truly did understand the concept of mercy, but he tried)

Still pretty new to D&D, but have heard many amusing stories from friends: one was a Dwarven Wizard with a pet rock for a familiar in a 2nd ed. game. Since it was 2nd ed., the guy was one of the 1st Dwarven wizards in his campaign world...so he tried to look as "wizardy" as possible. This was difficult, since he often beat the other characters in melee, using his familiar as a terrifying weapon to deliver touch spells galore.

Oh yeah: and the rock talked to him by wobbling back and forth...
