Unusual Race/Class Combos

Got a halfling rogue/fighter/cleric/shadowdancer/mystic wanderer. (Well, not MW already, and he's no longer a halfling since he was resurrected, but hey.)
You wanna get really crazy, pick up savage species and a few templates.

My paragon half-dragon, feral, ghost death slaad paladin/ranger/order of the bow initiate was a pretty crazy character... ;)

My two most recent characters were both gnomes (gotta love 'em :D) : Skipwrinkle Corswitzke the bard/paladin, and Ebullion Fidspinner (with a CON of 28 and 222 hp) the 13th level gnomish barbarian.

gotta love that gobbo

A goblin paladin.

Ah, poor bastard. I don't think he'll last long.

Oh well, just a goblin right?

We've all played Elven Wizards, Dwarven Clerics or Halfling Rogues before (snip)

I'm not trying to derail the thread, but these are pretty much the only combinations I've never played whenever I'd played D&D. I've played a half-elves fighter (AD&D 2E) and a half-elven monk (3.0 FR), and I've designed quite a few characters too, but never the "archetypal" builds. Not even a dwarven fighter.

I have enjoyed playing Half Orc Monks and Paladins, a Gnome Ranger (with a giant space hamster - Mithril - as his mount), and many others.

But one of my favorite unusual PCs in D&D was a white-furred Minotaur Ftr/Mage named Tu-Maa Ghostwalker, inspired by the combination of Native American legends about the White Buffalo and the art on the original Hurloon Minotaur card from M:TG. He thought he was destined to become a great leader for his people, but he was actually only destined to be part of a failed campaign. :(

With a little luck, though, I'll get to play him again someday!

Played a Half-Orc psion not long ago. He was also a pacifist, so most of the time he was using concussion the do subdual damage. Think he died from a friendly fireball

Curently playing a drow ranger 6/paladin 7 and enjoying every bit of it. Challenging role-playing, complex character, rich interractions with other PCs…

Definitely worth the try !

It's Alive!

Wow, I'm glad to see that all the oddballs get a chance to shine as well! My current characters include a Human Rogue/Cleric who's aimed at versatility rather than power. The Magic domain is just loads of fun! I also have a two-weapon fighting Halfling Rogue/Fighter. I think of all those Dwarven Bards sounds like something I'd like to try in the future.

I played a dwarven wizard only too briefly. One of the characters in a dead campaign now.

I also recently played a half-orc ranger whose favored enemy was orc. I figure if he was raised by orcs, then he would need the abilities to crush them when (not if) necessary. I never got to flesh out the character too much since the game was run by a character actor DM and dominated by thinker players (not much left for my power gamer or storyteller sides).
