Upcoming Adventure Review

Menik will probably be in for it. I still have to spend his gold from FWNR. Any description of what it'll be about?

Story wise, a few of the other characters have received some hints, so you can ask them. Otherwise, it's a mix of roleplay and combat. Your characters are high enough level that I am not worrying too much about defining a specific path.

I've been mulling over an idea lately and it sounds fine to me but there may be things that I'm not thinking about and I could use some input.

Anyway, the idea is this: a new IC thread like the Dunn Wright Inn thread called 'On the Silver Road' specifically for lower level characters. Numerous small adventures/adventure vignettes along the road run by multiple DMs would allow for new characters to get into adventure quickly without sitting in the DWI for months waiting for longer adventures to end...

I'm not sure how you're thinking of setting this up, but I like the idea. The idea of getting new players into a game more quickly is a good one. OK, so how's this to work? Some thoughts on how this sounds to me:

- There is one DM assigned to the Silver Road thread at any given time. Presumably a judge?
- Said DM has an adventure that is very amenable to new players, literally on a per encounter basis.
- The thread is located in the LPF section itself.
- Awards are normal: Experience awards, gold awards, DMC, etc. However, tracking the players might be a bit of extra effort, with all different start dates, etc.
- Exception to awards: there are no magic items to split up, just give players gold and let them go to the Pearl.

Is this what you're thinking, roughly? Or something else? Or some mix thereof?

That is pretty much what I was thinking. I think it would probably be necessary for someone to oversee the thread and keep characters involved in roleplaying and adventure when there are no other DMs running mini-adventures. Probably best for a judge to take care of. However, I sort of imagined several DMs involved at once, each drawing characters into their short adventures and then back into the Road thread.

Note that I'm not proposing this as a total replacement of longer adventures. If a DM felt like running an adventure for low level characters they could draw from the characters and run an adventure that has nothing to do with the caravan duties of the Silver Road.

possible opener: somewhere near Venza is the home of a summoner who went mad reaching the far realms that are best left alone. he created [made up name for now]suspention of disbelief academy[/name] that has been spewing out monster in a wooded area near town that is always needing brave souls to combat the monsters.

One note on this. The wiki page on the Silver Road is missing the fact that there is a "fey" forest about 1/2 to 2/3 of the way to Tritower from Venza to the east of the road that has a western arm covering about a day's worth of travel on the road. Even the normal fey of the world tend to avoid it, as do most of the locals, especially since a message was sent out from the woods saying "you leave us alone, we'll leave you alone. Locals tells of enmity between the normal fey and the fey that inhabit these woods, but little else is known aside from the fact that this enmity goes back beyond human settlement. Wlat little is known about the woods make the normal fey seem normal. I used it as an scene in the Expansion adventure.
------
When you get to the next inn, and inquire about the incident, you get the full story. The Feywood has a mysterious place not well suited to casual exploration for as long as human settlements have existed in the region. The central mass lay to the east of the Silver Road, going all the way over to the Tang River, but one of the smaller, but still significant branches had been cut across from very early on due to the rough geography of the coast directly to the west of the branch. Most people suspected that it had once been home to fey, and they were proven correct when about a century and a half ago, a strange proclamation had been sent to all of the communities neighboring the woods. It declared that the Court had returned to it's summer home, and while excursions into the center of the wood would not be tolerated while the court was present, the court recognized that the development of path and roads in and through some of the smalller branches was to be expected, and so long as no new paths attempted to dissect the heart of the forest, most of the existing paths would be allowed to continue to function.

Given that none of the trails had been anywhere near the areas the Court claimed for itself, since those were some of the most unreachable and oddest parts of the forest, and the few that had seen them described them as being otherworldly, with the presence of the fey Court there simply confirming why they had been generally avoided in the first place, and since the proclamation did nothing to challenge existing local practices, people accepted the proclamation as the offical word, and aside from the occasional individual from one side or the other, as well as the occasional escort like the one you receieved, there had been little interaction between the 2 worlds.

That's awesome and the sort of thing that is very adventure worthy. A lot of the things that you have developed along the road aren't listed because I haven't read those adventures and added it yet.

Added a page with all the Feywood information to the work in progress category of the wiki with all the relevant information and the back and forth between a local lord and one of the local fey in which much of the local issues are displayed. You'll probably want to edit it a bit, but I wasn't sure what others would find relevant, so I just copied the whole exchange.

Im not sure if Jezz's woods would create a conflict with the Feywood or not, but if it does, maybe that woods is another arm of the Feywood, and the Keep is somehow tied to the conflict the fey have with each other.
