With the old Dungeons & Dragons cartoon series being released last month on DVD should there be a new series of Dungeons & Dragons? Would like to have souple showcasing the different campaign worlds?

If they're using the same animation style as Samurai Jack, Clone War, and Powerpuff Girls, then no.

If they're using the same animation style as Teen Titans (with the ridiculous theme music by Puffy AmiYumi), then also no.

If they're using the same animation style as ThunderCats, I give them my blessing.

If they're using the same CG animation style as Jane & The Dragon, I can tolerate.

But if the series is based on Eberron, then...
HELL F#!@* NOOO!!!!
Logically, they would probably base it on Eberron or the Realms. Those are the two most popular settings. And I think Eberron has a cinematic feel that would work well. Although a Dark Sun series could be way cool.

I think they'd do themselves well if they kept it set in Generica, pretty much as the original series did.

I'd also be pleased if it was in a similar animation style as Avatar. :)

The only way a new D&D cartoon could hold my interest would be if it were not afraid of pulling any punches, and not kidify the material.

A D&D cartoon should be as epic as something like Lodoss War, while hard and gritty like Berserk. With that said, I wouldn't mind seeing a series based on the Forgotten Realms, as it has the most well known characters in D&D canon.

Thank you, I always hoped I was not the only one disgusted by the way it seems anything fantastic is turned into a kiddy program. I ask what happened to Achilles, Hector, Ajax? Why is it that the minute someone proposes a series based on fantasy that corporate executives suck all the heroics out of it in favor of ten year old protagonists with the brains of an autistic rat?

All I want is an animated fantasy series that actually does heroes. No whinny teenage angst machines that need to go star a kleenex commercial. Just great people who do great things, and sometimes terrible things, because there really isn't much difference.

If the stories for the new show is done similar to Batman the Animated series, the two justice league shows and Batman Beyond and even Avatar: The Last Airbender then and a Dungeons & Dragons animated series could be very epic.

The art for Avatar taken on its own is really very good, if they'd just apply it to more adult characters and give it a more serious overall tone it could be a tremendous series
