I'm a bit disappointed that they've limited the options so severely for online play. Pathfinder has a huge online VTT community (there are like 2000 people signed up for a Google Group that organizes PFS games online). When I GM a game, I can find 5 players within a few hours during peak play times.

I understand the value of FLGs to WoTC's ecosystem, but there's a lot of folks that don't have access to a FLGs store (or are disabled, or live in another country, or live in a rural area). I hope they evolve on this. They need to figure out how those players (who are gonna do it anyway), can easily access Expeditions at least. I would understand if they never release Epics for home/online play, and Encounters can be run straight from the adventure in August, but holding back both Expeditions and Epics seems a bit much.

If anyone's interested I started a google group to help folks organize games online. It's a complete rip off of the Pathfinder Society group I was talking about, and there's not a lot of posted games yet, but the Guide just came out today.

Also, the PG lists the full background list from the PHB. Neat! :)

Very cool! It also notes that non-human deities are listed in Appendix B of the PH(B). I think that's a new tidbit. Apparently the same appendix is coming to the basic rules, too.

Hrm...so splatbooks are moved into the upcoming story arcs? So a Cult of the Spider Queen Story Arc (picking an old one at random) would contain relevant character options for the story. Iiiiinteresting. Could the era of straight splatbooks be going away?
It's a pretty cool solution. It limits each player to the core + one splat. Good to know that CharOp won't get too crazy.

It also implies a rotation, so older content can phased out and newer content phased in (sort of like how Magic tournaments limit you to cards from the latest sets). In other words, there's no "bloat" because you just have the core and one supplement. This can only be good for the longevity of the game. It seems they really are making this game to last.

We'll see if non-AL DMs adopt this rule.
