I'm just trying to update the goliath for a player who's character is one. I just wanted to ask opinions and advice.

Mountain Movement - Always considered to have a running start for jumping.
Durable - Take 1 less damage from anyb source of ongoing damage.

Mighty Swing Goliath Racial Power
Encounter
Standard Action Burst 1
Target: All creatures in the area
Attack: Str +2 vs. AC
Hit: Strength modifier damage and push targets one square. Make a secondary attack against successfully hit targets.
Secondary Attack: Str vs. Fort

I kinda do like it, with one exception. The suprising reach feat.

The only problem I do have with the feat, however, is the fact that it uses a move action to do something that is not movement. I honestly think that shouldn't happen anymore, it's a 3e-ism. I'd say something like : Whenever you use an action point, you gain reach.

With surpising reach, I was veiwing the move action as regaining you balance. You over extend yourself to reach farther than normal, but then instead of being able to move, you have to regain you balance. What do you think about it when viewed that way?

It's not a question of view or explaination, it's a question of consistency (/s?).

You can look anywhere through the book, and you won't find anything that uses a move action that isn't about moving.

Another good alternative would be that you can get reach until the end of your turn, but you grant combat advantage until the end of your next turn.

Or if you absolutely want it to use an action, make it a minor action.

Color me close minded, but I strongly believe move actions should be about moving :p

Giving it a second look, though, the race seems a bit too powerful.

The oversized AND the "I eat ungoing for breakfast" abilities may be a bit too powerful. I say go for the oversized, drop the ongoing (if only to reduce bookkeeping).
