Urban Arcana Hijacked Game

Jennifer looks surprised, caught off balance by the events Simon is telling her about.

"Regardless, we need to determine the significance of that amulet," Simon finished.

"It must have been what they were looking for, and if they didn't successfully retrieve it here I'm guessing they'll look to wherever it was going to be before coming here," Jennifer calculates, "Whatever company made the delivery of these artifacts could be the next target, if they don't just make another attempt to find it here. I'm sure that's how we could find our suspect.

"These unnatural incidents though, they'll become a normal part of our job I guess. Should do some research on that leopard man as well, see how its connected."

She rubs her eyes for a moment, looking to the curator for his response to Simon's suggestion.

"I think we can done some of the research without the curator's help, plus I'm not certain that there's anymore to be done here," Simon commented. He listened any suggestion by Jennifer, then added.

"Perhaps we should leave here, make certain we aren't tailed, and research this amulet ourselves," Simon offered.

As you walk back to the car, again the both of you have th efeeling of being watched. You casually try to look , but you see noone. As you drive back to Brussels, the feeling continues, to suddenly vanish when you enter the underground parking at the eurobuildings. Again, you didn't notice anyone following you.

An elevator takes you to your office, a small room with a double desk. Two computers stand at the ready, with a connection to police databases from allover europe. Someone apparently taped a "Ghostbusters" poster to your door, and there are some sn iggering looks as the two of you enter your private office.

[ooc : your office is on the same floor as the narcotics division : it's the two of you against the fiftysomething of them. Apparently they don't have a high opinion of your research subjects]

[edit : aaaaaargh bloody politically corretc spelling editor. there is a word for laughing behind your hand, it has nothing to do with "afro-americans" goddamnit. The spacing is meant to be faulty, if not you get this : s:):):):):):)ing. It's from the verb to s:):):):):):), damn eejits.]

Jennifer crosses her arms and raises an eyebrow as she looks at the poster for a moment.

"I like it," she says eventually, and grins at Simon, "And I've got an idea about it too."

Jennifer will go into the office and come back with a black oil marker. She'll then proceed to cross out a couple of actors' names and replace them with hers and Simon's.

"What do you think now?" she asks Simon.

"I've felt like I'm being watched more the past day than I can remember in my lifetime," Simon commented as they drove away, "yet there doesn't seem to be anything there."

On arriving at the office, Simon was quite embarassed by the abuse and comments from the other officers, his pale skin blushing furiously - even the tips of his ears were bright red. He was used to not drawing much attention, being a researcher. With field work, he was definitely subjected to more interaction - it was something he would need to work on.

"I think if it's only ghosts that we're dealing with, we've gotten off easy," Simon said in a subdued voice. Then he continued in a normal voice and a grin, "Who ya gonna call?"

Simon jumped into the research with relish, feeling comfortable to be back in his element. He ran the name and description of the amulet through all of the known databases and began cross-referencing to various off-line books he may need.

[ooc : allright guys, tht's the prologue done with. From now it it'll get really really weird, and some action will be coming up. But first, grab a few levels, say two each. Starting off at level 3 will be better for my sinister plans. Second : you'll do all the rolling except for the spot- and search checks. Third : I'd like a honest appraisal of the game so far, and what your expectations are. There's just the three of us so I'll try to make things work. See ya at the OOC thread. Expect a major update in the weekend.]

Friday 05-03 14:00

After a quick lunchbreak you're in your office trying to figure out what the hell is going on.
Throughout the afternoon you follow different leads, look at various sources on the net, and argue about their value.

The best sources for african history are , no surprise here, at the library of the museum, or at the university library in Leuven.

In the late afternoon Lafayette drops by at the office. Apparently there are about 75 researchers working at the institute, and evryone has their own key. Most of them have an alibi, except for the head curator of etnography, who claimed to be working late at home, but is unmarried and therefore has no witnesses.
One key is missing, belonging to Mr. Vandeput, one of the nightwatchers. He's got an excellent alibi, he passed away 3 days ago. His keys should be at his home somewhere.

[you can each make one research/investigate/knowledge roll for your afternoons work]

Jennifer spends her afternoon marvelling at the office and the capabilities of everything at their disposal rather than doing real research.

(knowledge [arcana]: rolled 2 + 7 = 9)

You spend the afternoon chatting, wandering around on the internet, without any focus. You do come across references to several hardcopy books, a few of wich are either at the university library or at the museum

[you get +5 equipment bonus at the uni or at the museum for arcane research]
