Urban Arcana Hijacked Game

Jennifer wakes in the morning, and rubs her eyes. She could still remember her dream from the night before, and it was real enough to worry her greatly.

That was surely the Rainbow Serpent... and what do I have that she could want? Well, the amulet seems like an obvious answer. I need to find out who Papa Ghede is. Simon needs to hear about this.

Jennifer reaches for the phone beside her bed, and punches in the numbers she had learnt only the day before.

I certainly didn't drink enough for something like that to be pure fiction.

"Hi, Simon? Something's very wrong, we need to talk," she says, concern quite evident in her voice.

Simon awoke in a sweat, touched his ear and felt the free-flowing blood. 'What the heck?!?' Simon's rational mind called out. After a few moments he calmed somewhat and tried to think it through and aloud.

"Entered through my dreams . . . mind trick? illusion? magic in some form?" Simon said quietly, sitting at his chair in his shorts, hand with a towel against his ear. Any further throughts were interrupted by the phone. To be honest, Simon half jumped out of the chair at the sound.

Jennifer said:

Simon agreed, "I'll be right there." He tossed a t-shirt and jeans on, and, as almost an afterthought, clasped his holstered pistol to his belt. Simon got some ice in a hand towel and held it to his ear to keep the bleeding down, and within moments knocked lightly at her door.

Jennifer opens the door to let Simon in, and would look relatively normal if she wasn't carrying a .45 calibre pistol in her hand. She quietly shuts and locks the door behind him.

"What happened to you?" she asks, seeing the hand towel to his ear.

Simon looked Jennifer over when the door opened, not really certain what to expect. The threats made that could only be references to her (his on again off again girl friend back on the isle was currently off again - perhaps final off again based on his relocation). Simon noticed she was carrying her pistol and got even more alarmed, until he realized that he had his pistol on him as well.

"Would you believe the leopard man from the museum clawed me in my sleep . . . well, a dream, anyway?" Simon asked, unsure if it would be good or bad if she did believe him. He stepped into the room and checked the towel, which had a nice bloodstain on it, but his ear seemed to stop bleeding.

"Actually, I would," Jennifer replies, "Here's why."

Jennifer goes on to tell Simon what happened in her dream, as much as she can remember anyway.

"So, the Rainbow Serpent said I had something of hers, and I can only assume that she means the amulet. I've also no idea who this Papa Ghede is," she looks a little puzzled, then heads towards the kitchen, "Oh, want some tea or coffee or something? I have a little medical training, I should take a look at that ear of yours too."

A hot drink might be nice at a time like this.

"Well, well, eeeuhm... This is a highly unusual request. Do you have any idea of the value of that thing?" The curator doesn't really know what to think.

"on the other hand, if the thieves take it it'll be lost, no?" He quickly looks around. "Here, take it. I'll write it down as lost.... But you better make sure we get it back in before the start of the exposition"

[can't believe it, first festy, now you have a nat twenty. If I roll this good for the bad guys as well you're toast]
Jeniffer does have the amulet

"Ear . . tea, good," Simon replied somewhat disjointedly. He moved over to Jennifer's desk to write a few notes on what she had told him - his mind already running through scenarios. As such, he was somewhat oblivious until he finished writing and sketching a diagram.

"I'm sorry, Jennifer," Simon said, "I wanted to get down in writing some of what you said before I forgot it and it drifted away of the wisps of dreams for you. Tea would be great, and I wouldn't mind having you look at my ear, though probably a band-aid or two will work. My are still packed away in the boxes."

"As for what happened to it, here's the rest of the story . . ." and Simon told her about his dream. "I plan on researching this Rainbow Amulet and Papa Ghede, plus some more information on the Leopard man and any ties between them. Undead seem to be an issue as well based on the images from my dream - zombies or worse. I think we should stick together all day, if that's okay with you."

Jennifer puts a hot cup of tea down on the desk for Simon.

"I won't argue with that," she says, looking more than a little disconcerted after the recounting of Simon's dream, "Now about your ear."

She remains quiet while giving the small injury a once-over, then finally says something.

"We've only known each other for about a day... and they think I'm your girlfriend?" she rolls her eyes, "Sounds to me like they're jumping to conclusions. But aside from these dreams, what about our case? Is there anything we can do to determine the identity of a supposedly dead man? I'd think in order to find him we'd need to find his colleagues."

[ooc: Unless there's something specific to address during the day, Jennifer will aid another on all of Simon's checks seeing as they're sticking together.]
