The shield guardian is complete and with the control amulet keyed to Kitkazza she need never fear of being alone again. With his wife protected by the shield guardian Urg wishes to complete one more thing before his days are over. Long has he been a faithful follower of Tyr and the clergy has shown him much kindness, Urg wishes to repay that kindness in the best way he knows how. With the help of the local temple of Tyr Urg completed construction of his finest creation, the sun blade Justice’s Fury. The enchanted blade he bestowed upon his only child, Jaken Longshadow, paladin of Tyr. In the years since its creation Justice’s Fury has brought ruination to many of Tyr’s enemies and wielded by Jaken it will continue to do so for years to come.

Kitkazza knowing that Urg’s days are drawing to a close has been pushing her husband to research a way to expand his life expectancy with magic. Urg will hear none of it. Even though he knows it pains his beloved wife to watch him wither he wished to end his days as Tyr intended. Jaken agrees with Urg and though he cannot bear the idea of losing his father he knows it is wrong to live beyond the years one has been granted by the gods Urg does not fear death, he has lived a long and fulfilling life and when his days are done he will go willingly into the arms of his god.

Urg feels that his work on this plane is done. He has provided for his wife and has repaid all of his earthly debts. He now wishes only to enjoy his remaining years in the company of his wife and friends. Urg still studies magic but merely for the pleasure it gives him and the magical items he creates are given to his friends as gifts to remember him by.

Pain is a constant companion to Urg now as the spells he uses to maintain himself are no longer as effective as they once were. Old wounds ache constantly and there are days when even the his considerable magic will not allow him to do more than hobble from place to place. Urg bears his suffering without complaint; the pain was well earned from a life of righteous endeavor and hardship overcome. A deep contentment fills Urg each day for he has lived well and is truly grateful for the blessings that have been bestowed upon him.

A century old and still keen as a newly sharpened blade, Urg has found a new passion in his advanced age. Together with his beloved wife Urg has begun to travel beyond the confines of his the prime material and visit other planes of existence. In his travels Urg has witnessed the clockwork wonder of Nirvana, the divine splendor of Celestia and even the eternal chaos of Limbo. He and Kitkazza are often gone for weeks at a time on their extra planar voyages, returning with rare and wondrous gifts for their friends.

Urg and Kitkazza enjoy their lives to the fullest and even the shadow of Urg’s advancing age does little to darken their spirits. Jaken, Urg’s only son and a powerful paladin often visits Longsaddle to see his father and trade stories with the ancient half-ogre. Urg has watched generations of Longsaddle townsfolk come and go and he is a popular figure in the town’s legends and tales, most of which are true.

One morning in the spring of Urg’s 106th year he awoke with a terrible weakness throughout his body that even his magic could not banish. Urg took to his bed and there he remained. Kitkazza knew that the end was upon them and sent a message to Waterdeep to inform Jaken. The noble paladin arrived three days later to be at his father’s side. Urg’s condition did not improve and over the weeks many of his friends made the journey from wherever they were to bid farewell to the kindly half-ogre. Three weeks after he had taken to bed, Urg and Kitkazza were alone in their tower and as Kitkazza sat by her husbands bed holding his huge wrinkled hand in both of hers Urg turned to her and smiled. The pain and worry suddenly left his face and for an instant Kitkazza saw the young and vibrant man Urg had once been, and then a final breath escaped Urg’s lips and the most unlikely wizard in Faerun was no more.

Moments later on the Fugue plane where the deities of Faerun collect the mortal souls of their faithful to deliver them to eternal bliss or torment, a blinding flash of light filled the featureless plane as Tyr, Lord of Justice appeared to collect his faithful. Mounted upon a stallion of purest white the great god flew over the throngs of petitioners and as their voices carries up to him, the barest hint of a smile creased his stern features. Among the countless voices singing his praises Tyr heard for the first time in his eternal existence the prayers of his faithful sung in the tongue of ogres.

Whew! That was a long one. I hope you all enjoyed Urg's tale, it got a little more detailed than I intended but it was fun to write.

If any one would like to contribute some imput for my next thread feel free. Here are some ideas i have been kicking around.

Son of Urg: Jaken Longshadow, Paladin of Tyr
Guzok, Bugbear Assassin
Nithrekel, Earth Mephit Fighter
Skesk'esen, Lizardman/half-dragon barbarian

Been kind of leaning towards the earth mephit, but I will take suggestions.

I think both Urg and Hargash have shown us that whatever you choose to do the results will be awesome - oops I'll just wipe away my tear for Urg:P

PS Myrgle was good too but just to disturbing for me to want to see a similar writeup....

Thanks, the praise is much appreciated. You aren't the first to tell me the Myrgle was a little to much to stomach. I just really wanted to do something dark and disturbing, and by the responses I got, it seems I succeeded. :D

Well, the earth mephit fighter has just kind of stuck in my mind and I think I will do him next. If any of you had any other ideas, don't worry I will keep doing these as long as they are well recieved.

Stay tuned for the tale of Nithrekel, an earth mephit taken from his home on the elemental plane of earth and forced to serve a maniacal evil wizard.

What Kamard said. :) Urg was wonderful, but I'd also like the occasional NPC which my PC's will oppose.

I completely understand. My current NPC, Nithrekel could certainly be in the position to oppose PC's, leading an army of evil humanoids and all. Nithrekel could also be one of those great moral dilemmas since he is not evil and is basically a slave to his master's will.

The next one I will be doing after Nithrekel will be another no holds barred bad guy and will give your PC's plenty of reason to give him a good thrashing. :D
