Ter-raen wields his scimitar and shield handily, looking at the dangerous waters, breathing slightly heavy. He turns his head slightly at the dwarf's words, answering, "Rope, have. Will be useful?"

[sblock=OOC]Sorry for the late update, I've just started my internship, still settling down.[/sblock]

"Aye, aw plans ur guid when they wark," Gildrim says. "At laist Ah'm keepin' busy!" As quickly as possible, Gildrim attempts to set the plan in motion.[sblock=OOC]This consists of retrieving the rope from Ter-raen's pack, discovering his grappling hook, tying one end of the rope around the tree at the south-east side of their little island, and the other end to the grappling hook, on which the dried meat will be impaled. Then after a few chanted words, he'll do what he can to make the meat as appetizing a morsel for a ghoul as it could be using prestidigitation. When all is done, he'll gather up a few loops and throw the baited rope out into the water. All this will require quite a few rounds without assistance from anyone... a minimum of 5, I'd think. If he gets that far, he'll aim for the square that lies 3 east of the dead ghoul, ideally throwing from where Ter-raen is marked on the most recent map, then draw it back slowly. If the ghoul goes for the meat, he won't try to haul it to shore by main strength, but will hope it reveals itself. If there's no response, he'll throw again a similar distance offshore, in a clockwise fashion, so the next time might be 2 squares further south. Anyway, we'll see how far this goes.[/sblock]

ooc: Where does Gildrim intend to stand when doing all this? In particular, assuming everyone agrees with this plan, I'd like positions for all of you when Gildrim starts fishing, (ghouling?) together with any readied actions and anything else you want to do while waiting for Gildrim.

OOC: the square SE of the standing stone gives Gildrim access both to Ter-raen's backpack and the nearby tree. I guess. He'd like to throw from the square T is currently in, ideally, or the one to its north.

Erf and Fenenn will be five foot to the west of their last map position, and will be delaying rather than holding. Hurray, ghouling!

The water ripples quietly while Gildrim makes his preparations. Soon, the rope is tied around the tree, the grapple attached and the hook baited with disturbingly appetizing dried meat. Apikotoa nocks his bow, ready to shoot if the ghoul becomes visible near where the meat lands. Erf and Ter-raen wait with bated breath. Gildrim hurls the meaty hook, which goes under with a blurp. For a second, there is no reaction, but then the water goes white with a sudden flurry of motion. The ghoul lunges forward and grabs ahold of the meat, ready to sink its teeth into tender gnomeflesh, but suddenly stops as he realizes that this is not a gnome. It turns toward the island and tries to duck, but the water there is too shallow to provide any cover, and Apikotoa's arrow strikes deeply into its shoulder. It falls with an ungraceful splash, but comes floating to the surface a moment later, lifeless.

End combat

Gildrim lets out a bark of laughter and starts hauling in the rope. "No verra much patience fur a thing whit wad hae lived foriver. Put anither arrow in it, tae be shuir."

"Well I never!" Exclaims Erf. "Nobody's going to believe you Gildrim when you say, "Ah w'nt ghouaulin an ah I cauht wun thaur twas this big!"

The little gnome grins mischeviously at his own rather poor Gildrim impression and slaps the dwarf on the back.

"A crackin' plan Gildrim, and great shooting Apikotoa, and a good ole fashin' womp from Ter-raen! Don't worry Fenenn boy I haven't forgotten you!" With that Erf takes out another piece of salted meat and feeds in to the greatly appreciative wolf hound. While Fenenn eats Erf casts a spell and cures the wolf hounds injuries totally taking care to examine them afterwards, though he quickly seems satisfied.

"Now we just have to find out what happened to Cyian... I hope the lads okay."
