Urn Your Pay (Rae judging)

ooc: Yes, I understood that that's what you were suggesting, and the image of a policeman holding back a dog is convincing, but consider: the police dog is being held back from attacking a specific target that it knows knows the location of. Tell you what, based on that premise, I'll allow Fenenn a readied attack, but only on the square where the ghoul was last seen. Ok?

[Sblock=OOC]Well remember that Fenenn has taken a 5ft. step back, he cannot move forward and attack he can only attack if it comes up right next to him. So it would have to emerge from the water and cross 5ft. of land, then Erf would direct Fenenn to attack if the ghoul is in a square next to him.

Up to you, its fine if it doesn't work, but Erf tries it. Just remember he is now 5ft. back from the shore with Gildrim on one side and a tree on the other. I always dislike knowing that something would not work mechanically and so not trying it, so I try it and I guess Erf'll see if it works![/sBLOCK]

OOC: Since we're still referring to Gildrim's old position, I'll repeat that he's moved to a position 2 squares SW of the standing stone.

ooc: Halford: Well, at any rate, I happen to be in possession of certain information that makes Erf and Fenenn's action less immediately relevant, so I'll move on. ;) Trouvere: Sorry, I missed your edit. Noted!

Round 2, continued

Fenenn growls, eager to dive in after the ghoul. Erf restrains him and backs him away from the water's edge, but remains ready to loose him at any moment.

Apikotoa backs away from the water, too, his bow still trained on the churning water.

Gildrim...

[sblock=ooc]On that note, I'm going to have to pause for a few days. I'm moving to a new house this weekend, and I'll be packing up the computers as soon as I press Submit. The internet connection is scheduled to be installed on Monday in the new place, so I'm unlikely to post before then. I'd hoped to get through this combat by then, but... At least I'm not leaving too much of a cliffhanger, since you guys seem to have this well in hand.[/sblock]

"Th' laddie's gane. Th' cursit stane ett him! An' th' best we kin howp is it spat him oot somewhaur else, a thoosand miles awa', aw a thoosand years, aw in anither place awthegither." Gildrim shakes his head. "Mebbe Ah shuid touch th' stane tay, dae ye think?"

Erf finally notices that Cyian is gone and gapes at Gildrim's words. Concernwritten across his features - which makes that fine print - the little gnome glances anxiously at the stone.

"Well we'd best be dealin' with the bitte trouble here, but I reckon me an Ter-raen have got it covered. Did it eat him or did he just vanish?"

[Sblock=OOC]Whoops I missed the bit where Cyian disappeared. Hope Jerrand and Serow show up again soon.[/sblock]

"Thaur wis a flash ay licht an' he wis goan. Ah saw it oot ay th' corner ay mah eye, as Ah tried tae stab th' ghoul," Gildrim replies. "An' missed," he adds wryly. He shakes his head, trying to put Cyian's disappearance from his mind in favour of a situation he can better understand.

"Speakin' ay th' uncannie things... kin ye see the tither ane at aw? Ye kin be shuir it's still thaur aneath th' watter. It disnae need tae braithe, ye ken. An' it'll wait an' wait. An' it's ayeways hungerin'."

Gildrim frowns. "Erf, dae ye think ye can spare a chunk ay th' meat ye feed tae yer hoond? Ter-raen, Ah ken ye've been carryin' rope. Whit else dae we hiv? Ah'm thinkin' we cuid dae a spot ay... fishin' fur it, mebbe?"

"Oh yes! I've still got loads of salted meat in Fenenn's saddle bags!" Erf scrambles in the saddle bags and pulls out a hunk of salted pork - which Fenenn watches hungrily. He hands the pork to Gildrim.

"Let's bide a wee while tae see if it'll try it's luck wi' us oan its ain. If nae, then thaur's a trick Ah kin dae tae mak this auld pork taste ay th' finest freshest gnome aw half-orc a ghoul iver set tuith tae." Gildrim winks. "Fix it tae a rope an' thraw it haur an thaur, an' we'll find oot whither cunnin' aw hunger wins oot. Ah dinnae think we'll catch it oan a great heuk, mind! But mebbe it'll hang oan an' we kin keep it in sicht fur lang eneuch fur ye tae stick an arrow in it, Apikotoa, eh? Yth mirt svern kaegro mrith rhyaex, wux svent mrith vaess! Dis that soond like a plan?"

While you plan, the water's surface gradually stills, though it remains cloudy. No movement is visible.

[sblock=ooc]I'm back, though somewhat slowed by the lack of an effective network in my new home. But, I should be able to post fairly regularly for the foreseeable future. Serow mentioned that he'd be on vacation, but I thought he'd be back by now, hmm... Anyway. We're still in combat rounds, but the ghoul is hiding and delaying for the moment, so feel free to act without waiting for initiative.[/sblock]
