Urn Your Pay (Rae judging)

ooc: Ok, I think we're mostly clear now. Do go ahead and take your map down, please, if only because I've gone and added letters and numbers on mine, too, and naturally they're different from the ones you put, which will certainly confuse me, if no one else.

deja vu, all over again

Round 5, continued

"Why plants so stubborn!?!?!?" Ter-raen roars in frustration as he finally breaks free of the irritating plants! "And where gnome going?!?"

"Te knock some sense into a Nixie!" Erf growls, uncharacteristically in response to Ter-raen's question. Ter-raen follows, following into the round room to the south.

"An' wha'll knock sense intae him?" Gildrim growls. He's made his way out of the entangling area into the round room. "Ah swear this time Ah am tyin' him up if he gits chairmed again." He looks a bit befuddled himself as he checks on the fey that he's placed on the floor, coils his whip, and reaches into the edge of the writhing tablecloth for the hilt of his sword. It doesn't look as though he'll be ready to go anywhere for a few seconds. "At least this ane's stopped bleedin' oan his ane," he mutters.

Round 6

Freed now from the animated tablecloth, Erf charges through the house, bursting through the door to the garden.
"Kshatrya!" he calls from the doorway,"Get out here now! And if you try to charm me again I warn you things will go very badly for you! Now, do you know these Grigs? Because I think they've been pulling the wool over your eyes and I want to get to the bottom of this! I swear by Verdante's beard of bees that I won't do anything te hurt ye if ye don't try anything first."

The little green gnome scours the greenery ready to command Fenenn to charge. Sensing his companion's worry Fenenn growls menacingly.

"Erf? Is that you? Just a moment," comes the nixie's familiar voice. There is a slight rustle of leaves, and Kshatrya comes out of the trees towards Erf. She is dripping wet, and still adjusting the strap on her leaf-dress, which seems to keep slipping off her green shoulder. The strap, not the dress. "Grigs? I don't know any grigs. All right, I won't charm you if you don't want me to. You're back already? I thought it would take longer. Where is Sister... what was her name? Asphodel?"

Just then, there is a disturbance in the woods to the west, and the grig flies out, bow in hand, and seeing the tableau before him, circles and flies back into the trees. (hide check: 27)

The grig is pursued rapidly by a very angry snake with a bloody scratch along its flank. The snake, unable to reach the grig and being not particularly bright, slithers directly towards Erf!

[sblock=kn(nature) DC 10 (can be made untrained)]This kind of snake is especially dangerous to smaller prey, since it can squeeze them in its powerful coils[/sblock]

ooc: The rules for moving back in and out of the entanglement, for reference: If you are entangled and move out of the entanglement area, the writhing strands fall off at the end of your turn. Re-entering the area, you need to make the reflex save immediately. No one is in the entangle at the moment, though.

I left g3 on the map; that should be considered a last known position. I placed Erf directly by the door, since it was closed and Fenenn can't open it. Note that Fenenn doesn't have a path to charge Kshatrya. Ter-raen I left farther back, since he hasn't moved yet in round 6.
[/sblock]

ooc: Important map note: you'll notice a directional indicator in the corner of the new map, with an inconsistency from previously indicated directions: I hereby declare that North Is Up now. I'm not going to rotate the map or anything; I'm just going to frantically brandish Rule 0 and declare it to be so.

[sblock=ooc]
I gotta admit, I'm just confused now.

Ter-raen will want to move towards Erf. But I thought breaking free from the entangle was a full-round action, so no more movement? Anyway the intent is to break free and move up to join him.

Is that workable?

[/sblock]

ooc: From entangle: "The creature can break free and move half its normal speed by using a full-round action to make a DC 20 Strength check". So that's what the movement was from in round 5. In round 6, you can move far enough to join Erf, yes.

[sblock=ooc]Wonderful! That is what Ter-raen would do then, move up to join Erf.

"Snake coming!" Ter-raen stands in front of Erf, not sure how to react to the snake. "You chase it away? Or Ter-raen kill it?"

"I think we're gonna need te deal with it, try te leave it alive if ye can - poor thing." Erf replies regretfully. "Thanks fer backin' me up big fella!"

OOC: I'll wait for Gildrim to go since things are nice and unconfused now.

Gildrim puts away his shield and grabs up his sword.[sblock=OOC]Revised since I know which door Erf went to and the house rotated: round 7, pick up grig, move 20' east along passageway; round 8, double move into the garden[/sblock]

Erf points Fenenn to the snake and the big dog bounds over snapping at the serpent. Meanwhile the forest gnome speaks.

"Kshatrya, you 'ave te listen te me. I'm sure that yer goddess appreciates yer worship, but I'm just as sure that she'd not like ye being duped, and I'm pretty sure thats what's happening 'ere. Yer being played fer a sucker, there are a bunch o' Grigs livin' in the 'ouse 'n' I think they're the ones askin' ye te dance 'n' such. They know ye, and they attacked us, we 'ealed two that we 'ad te knock out - they're still inside. Its not fer yer goddess, but some cheeky bitte Grigs. 'N' I like ye too much te allow that..."

Erf's foot revolves in a sheepish circle.

"I realize this is a lot te take in, but yer goddess wouldn't mind ye checkin' I'm sure. 'N' if it turns out I'm right, well, umm, maybe ye could become Sister Anemone's new apprentice, 'n' she could help ye worship Galatea, 'n' then maybe I could, err, send ye a letter now and then 'n' come by 'n' see ye, 'n' ye wouldn't be lonely, 'n' ye could help more of the townsfolk so they'd worship Galatea 'n' it'd be really nice..."

The little forest gnome trails off into silence, his cheeks now a deep emerald green and stares at his boots.

Round 6, continued

Ter-raen quickly makes his way through the hallways, emerging on the paved area near Erf.

Gildrim puts away his shield and grabs up his sword.

Round 7

Erf points Fenenn to the snake and the big dog bounds over snapping at the serpent, drawing more blood. (hits for 4 damage)

Meanwhile the forest gnome speaks:

"Kshatrya, you 'ave te listen te me. I'm sure that yer goddess appreciates yer worship, but I'm just as sure that she'd not like ye being duped, and I'm pretty sure thats what's happening 'ere. The little forest gnome trails off into silence, his cheeks now a deep emerald green and stares at his boots.

Kshatrya stares at the Fenenn, emotions flitting across her beatiful face in a bewildering flurry. Erf, what? What are you saying! The voice of the goddess is some kind of cruel joke? But... I don't believe it! How could you know?" But her face shows confusion and uncertainty.

Just then, there is a bright glow from the pool, and the silver chalice there is outlined in brilliant blue sparkles. An angry voice emerges from the air above it. "Do not heed the voice of the unbeliever, my faithful servant. He speaks blasphemy, here in this holiest of places. Drive him away! Be my good right arm, my daughter, and I will shower you with my blessings."

Kshatrya stares at the chalice, and for a long moment, everything in the little glade seems to stand still, poised on a cusp. Then Kshatrya draws a ragged breath and speaks, her voice shaking. "You're right, goddess. There is an intruder here, a defiler of what's holy. But before I smite them in your name, goddess, please explain to me. Why are the leaves of that tree over there rustling, though there is no wind and all the other boughs are still? It's almost as if someone were using a spell. An illusion." Then suddenly a delicate-looking crossbow is in her hands (though exactly where in that particular outfit she managed to keep a loaded crossbow is a thought that will surely occupy Erf through many a night's watch), and without seeming to look, she fires a bolt into the thickest part of the trees. A scream of pain and anger rings out.

Then the snake bites Fenenn, drawing an answering howl of pain, and the magical moment is broken. (ooc: 5 damage, used previous rolls)

[sblock=ooc]Kshatrya made her will save due to the bonus from Erf's diplomacy. Then she rolled a natural 20 to hit the grig with her crossbow, and then confirmed (with the help of a +1 from dramatic necessity) Only 7 damage, and subject to DR, but hey. :)[/sblock]
