I just picked a number out of the air to make my point actually. In truth though, you are right. I would go with 25' +5'/2 levels.

I would say that - in the absence of any other changes to rules - if Styptic fell under the spontaneous casting rules for clerics, it might be worthwhile.

But it's not something that would ever be prepared.

Yup. It's a useless spell! It does nothing that Cure Minor Wounds can't do, and it can't even be cast spontaneously. Phbbbbt!
