Using a shield

Sorry, I may be misunderstanding the English meaning....

What is actually READYING a shield and LOOSING a shield? They are both MEA if I remember (maybe you can combine them with a move if you're at least +1 BAB). Does readying mean you are strapping the shield's handle onto your arm, and loosing exactly the opposite? As I understood, it is a basic preparation for correct shield usage, nothing else...

You are correct. Readying/Loosing is simply picking up and putting down the shield (with appropriate strapping and so forth). Yes, you can combine these actions with an MEA if your BAB is +1 or more (see dagger note in PHB Table 8-4).

Actually if you have a +1 or higher BAB you can combine these actions with a normal move, not a MEA.
