Stormborn said:When WotC's Arcana book came out with all of the variant rules I know some people on these boards were going to try some gestalt PC games. Has any one run such a campaing? How did it go? What are the pros/cons of doing so? Did you use published adventures and if so how did they work?
mcrow said:When you are using the word "gestalt" are you using it in its' literal definition or is this some sort of gamer slang that I have never heard before?
DaveMage said:Also, be very wary of the fighter/psychic warrior gestalt. Many, many feats abound.
Ace said:I don't know how balanced this is but I would allow leveled races ala Savage Species as part of Gestalt. If the race has less than 20 levels additional levels in the monster may be multiclassed (even in a 3+ party) after the whole progression is finished and you have to stay with that class
This way you can have something like Rogue 10 Doppleganger 8 (max) Fighter 2
Vurt said:I've run a couple, and I'm playing in one. They are fun, hands down, but it can be difficult to keep track of what your character(s) can do. In practice, it's not too hard to come up with appropriate challenges, but really it depends on your player character mix. Some combinations of gestalt classes you'll probably have to eyeball and disallow, depending on what kind of game you're comfortable running.
Nightfall said:No it's a term found in Unearthed Arcana that is like the old 2nd edition system of multi-classing. It allows the PC to combine the best features of BOTH classes into one. And still be able to advance both via the normal rules for XP tables.
Ace,
yeah cause now with the Marshall/Favored Soul, I'm kind of out of luck when it will come to combat. But there you are.

We're going to tackle the Sunless Citadel. Should be interesting.
