v3.5 core class characters

One thing I found in d20 Modern that really adds flavor to the Wizard is late spell preparation. In short:

A Wizard can opt to prepare less spells than his total, leaving some slots unused.

Later during the day he can choose to spend 15 minutes in preparation with his spellbook and fill up some or all of those slots.

That adds versatility to the Wizard that I like.

This is already done in dnd before d20 modern.

While I wish the rogue had gotten a few new special abilities, overall the classes are just fine imo.

How the heck did the fighter get the shaft? Didn't you see some of the new feats he can get now? Improved Weapon focus? Improved weapon specialization!

Maybe you don't get how powerful these are but I do.

At like 13th level having another +1 to hit and +2 damage when its on EVERY attack is freakin huge.

This meants my 13th level fighter with 10 str can output as much damage as your 13th lvl bararian with 18 str. Now imagine a barbarian 1/fighter 13 with 18 str(note that this could be low since its higher levels). Its pretty gross. Make him half-orc and put all points into str and you could have like 22 str plus another 4 damage plus barb +4 str. Ouchies!

If one compares the changes made between 1st edition and 2nd edition fighters, to the changes made between 3.0 and 3.5 fighters, it is clear that the Fighters came out CONSIDERABLY better.

With regard to wizards having more opponents with evasion: This is why wizards really need to branch out and take more than just fireballs and cones of cold. A wizard especially, above a sorcerer or bard, should have several spells as options using either fortitude or will as the saving throw, to make up for shortcomings against dexterous characters. Even touch attacks will help, but more than likely anyone with evasion as an ability will have a very high touch AC, as well.
