D&D 5E Valor bard - fighter

Hello,

I've just started a fighter/bard which I'm planning to build as a 17valor bard/3 fighter. I have a question concerning actions in following scenario. So:
-Crossbow Expert, hand crossbow, action surge, haste.
---
Turn:
Action 1 - Attack + extra attack + bonus attack crossbow expert
Action surge - Attack + extra attack
Haste action Attack.

Does this add up to six attacks in one turn? Or is there an error in my reasoning?

Thanks for reading and input

Wow, I've never started a campaign at 20th level. Seems like there's not much room to grow.

But yes, your math adds up to 6 attacks that round.

If all you want at that level using the specific class combination you presented is to fire that many arrows, you can take swift quiver as a "magical secret" for you instead of haste. In this case, you might not take the crossbow expert and just use a longbow for increased damage and range.

For comparison, take these into account: same amount of attacks in the end, better range, better damage, saves one feat, no lethargy after spell ends but shots with disadvantage in melee, uses a higher spell slot and does not benefit from extra move speed, adv on dex save and AC from haste.

The maths looks ok, but you have to realise you can only do that a few times a day.

A level 20 fighter with crossbow expert can get 5 attacks a round, every round, all day, without haste or action surge. Until they run out of ammo, anyway.

I thought WOTC solved this issue with the hand crossbow by ruling you still needed a hand to load it?

The free hand requirement means it won't work more than once when both your hands are full (e.g. wielding a hand crossbow and a melee weapon). But if you wield a hand crossbow in one hand and leave the other free, then you meet the free hand requirement and can machine-gun your hand crossbow to your heart's content.

Where's the 5th? 3 total after extra attack and a bonus action 4th. What am I missing?

20th level fighter = 4 attacks.

+1 from Xbow master.

Already counted as the bonus attack action in my post.

Let me break it out for more clarity.

Attack action: 3 attacks because of Extra Attack (2)
Bonus Action: 1 attack because of Crossbow Expert

It was specifically said no haste or action surge. So what am I missing for the 5th attack?
